Never heard Carter do that. Great version & balls up for taking that on. They didn’t give a toss, but did. & that’s what it takes.
Can't argue fella. Other worthy mentions: soft cell tainted love (btw first record I ever bought was Gloria Jones original but still thought wow when I heard it). Santana's covers of virtually anything, Jose feliciano light my fire (affirms the genius that was Jim Morrison), George Michael and Mary j blige: As. Take that, relight my fire. Best: Bobby womack: California dreaming.
An energetic cover of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" in which Brian May's guitar solo is replaced by a kazoo.
Bit soppy but always thought this is a brilliant cover. Kelly’s voice suits it perfectly in my opinion.
Van Halen’s cover of The Kinks ‘You Really got me’. Much superior, and that’s saying something as the Kinks version is brilliant. Hendrix version of All along the watchtower. Kate Bush cover of Rocket Man.
No one can do a better version of Beatles songs except .... Joe Cocker - With a little help from my friends (incredible riff) Hallelujah- Jeff Buckley All along the watchtower - Hendrix Run - Leona better than Snow Patrol (so sorry, folks)
Can't believe we're 54 posts in without anyone mentioning this: I'm also quite partial to a bit of ska punk, and I really dig this:
Can’t provide a video. But a clubland act of standing.(my favourite ever) Guns n oatcakes did Don Henleys ‘Boys of summer’ proud. Steve Johnson a great performer in his own right along with his brother Paul. (Fasker) Both playing in top acts. Eg Thin Lizzie’s( Phil Lynott)/Saxon. between em.
