https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-barnsley-line-up-bid-for-ipswich-town-star-downes/ We have plenty of guys who can play in central midfield unless some are leaving.
I heard it here first - http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/twitter-transfer-rumours.305352/#post-2750787
Christ can you imagine us signing an Ipswich player a few years ago. Their fans would have been apoplectic. How dare they sell a first teamer to the likes of Barnsley.
Local press have confirmed we are interested...... https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/championship-interest-in-dozzell-and-downes-8054354 We can trust the original source were correct.
If I remember right, he is a tidy, really talented player who was on the radar of some big teams a season or so back...
I read a few of the comments from Twitter, and there's a few who can't understand it as he was linked with much bigger teams than us last year. So it's only a matter of time I reckon before the 'teams like Barnsley' comments start.
The famous, mighty Ipswich - perennial Champions League winners, and not League One also-rans, who just finished eight points behind Lincoln City - were distraught at signing one of our players on loan, as I recall. They'll be pushing Real Madrid all the way next season, as usual.

Paul Cook isn't messing around as he's one of six players along with Kayden Jackson who he's got training with the kids because they don't want to stay. Soon as someone offers whatever it is they want he will be off.
This one has been touted before and I would wager that there is some truth in it, but we need now to get a move on. He got into the Ipswich team as a teenager and was captain as well once established. They seemed to hit all sorts of internal political problems after the Paul Hurst era and Downes seems to be persona non grata. Good pedigree, having England youth caps and well rated by the Ipswich fans. Still young, but with a surprising amount of experience. I would be getting him in quickly now before the competition hots up. Ipswich are one of a few clubs having a major revamp of their squad and making use of the number of good quality players who have been freed.
https://the72.co.uk/242795/barnsley...played-for-ipswich-town-under-23s-last-night/ No messing with Paul Cook. Don't want to stay with us? Go play for the under 23s.
