Does anyone have any sporting moments that tugged at your heart strings, One that always sticks with me is Derek redmond in the olympic 400mtrs, i believe his hamstring went about halfway round, but the lad carried on running with tears running down his face and his dad had to run on the track to stop him, awful but iconic for me...

Kris Akabusi tells that story brilliantly. Links it to instant changes of targets given changes of circumstance.

Andy Murray winning gold and Wimbledon all that expectation and a press who labelled him a miserable Scot.
    Was made up for him.

Poor Paula Radcliffe during the Olympics was gutted for her.

Men's 4×400 metres relay and Men's 100 relay teams. Always amazing to beat the yanks.

Darren Clarke winning the Open just floored me.

Great shout with Darren Clarke. I suspect most of his competitors were willing him on too.

Controversial player I know but for me it was Paulo Dicanio in 2000 I think, when he caught the ball in front of an open net because he saw Everton keeper Gerrard had sustained serious injury. Won FIFA fair play award for it as well

Something a little closer to home for Barnsley fans.

Gary Flemings testimonial. Sustained an absolute horror injury where Nathan Blake ran through to score for the blunts and then goaded the ponty as Fleming lay in agony, and unknown at the time, never to play professionally again.

A long time later at his testimonial, he made a very short cameo. Seeing him limp around on the pitch brought conflicting emotions. Pride in his bravery to go out there and do it anyway, knowing he couldn't play properly. But also the sad dawning reality that he couldn't play football ever again and that was the very last time we'd see him in a red shirt.

Super Saturday at London 2012. Three gold medals in a hour in the same stadium was incredible. I was especially pleased for Greg Rutherford as by far the most unknown of the three to win one.

Ricky Hatton beating Kostya Tszyu. He was my favourite boxer at that time, wasn't expected to win nevermind stop Tszyu and it's one of the few times I have stayed up until 5 am to watch Boxing.

I see your Fury and raise you Bruno finally winning a world title.
Fury was more a WTF moment for me, and really entertaining watching Wilder trying to commute what just happened whilst Fury poured it on.

That's unreal, always found his crying on the way to the ring and in it unnerving and not quite right.

Jonny Brownlee being helped by his brother Alistair in the world series triathlon. He was 700 yards in front and near the finish line when heat exhaustion got to him. His brother stopped and half carried him and pushed him over the line to finish 2nd. Some South African won. If Brownlee had finished 1st instead of second he'd have been World champion.

Redmond snapped his hamstring with about 250m to go, fell to the floor then got up to limp round. His dad fought his way through security to help him hobble the rest of the way - but he was disqualified and officially "Did Not Finish". He never recovered fully, but went on to play pro basketball for the Birmingham Bullets.

Alistair Brownlee not been selected for the Olympics - Jonathan Brownlee has been selected along with Alex Yee.
Mo Farah struggling to get the qualifying time for 10,000 metres.

Andy Murray losing at Wimbledon. Really felt for him. Also for Kyren Wilson losing against Ronnie when I was actually at the final, really felt for him.

I loved Overt heating Seb Coe at the Olympics too!

And the joy of Daley Thompson winning his decathlon gold!

I was at that English Open final too. His family were a few rows in front of me. It was a shame it finished so early but at least they gave us a best of three frames exhibition to watch with Jimmy White.

Me blowing out of my arse and shouting "wait for me" on 50 yards as the winner crossed the line in the 100 yards, in a games lesson in 1972....

I loved Daley's wins, but think 88 was as much of a triumph of his personality. He was physically broken before it started, and then his pole broke and he could barely walk - the team doctor advised him to pull out immediately - but still came within 3.5 seconds of a medal.
