I dont understand why so many of these people use the term "woke" as a slight.

"Haha, you're aware of and care about issues that don't just affect you"

    Good one.

Interesting that Nivea, Kopparberg and Open University have all pulled advertising today.

Statement below from Nivea that may explain why some brands appeared on there that may not be initially expected.

Update 15/6: Nivea has pulled its ads. Statement: "Media buying algorithms mean our adverts are automatically allocated across a wide selection of channels often without our knowledge, which is what has taken place in this instance. Typically we would wait for a few months after a new channel or publication has launched before advertising with them, to ensure that they reflect the values we hold as a company. We have paused our advertising with GB News in line with this policy"

I think companies should pick where they advertise before it happens instead of blaming it on something else.

They have plenty of cash behind them but they can do without losing advertisement deals.

From the post from Nivea it seems that they weren't so much deals, more scattergun placement by brokers and platforms that deal with their advertising spend. That several companies have committed to pulling out of advertising on that channel within days says a lot, does it not?

Companies place adverts with agencies given budget and with certain criteria - age range, targets, budget, etc, etc. The agencies then place adverts. It seems companies (add Kopparberg onto the list) aren't too impressed with the agencies that placed these adverts without their knowledge or having the opportunity to peruse the content first (to get an idea if it is suitable for their target markets).

Ikea now suspended advertising while it investigates.

And Octopus Energy. Nice bit of comms from the CEO in doing so too. Some companies could certainly learn from such leadership.

I think a company should decide where they want or do not want to advertise before the advertisements go live.

I agree, but much of the advertising is placed with external media agencies. I'll be interested to hear how it's explained in more detail, and if any of these mainstream brands decides it still wants to engage with such a channel.

Tweets like this are far better than watching the channel.

    .

Thought I'd share this to give everyone an idea of how much the legacy media is hated . They got it wrong on Iraq , then Libya and have failed to report the full facts on Syria yet again . Then there's austerity . Not once did they report any objective journalism on the whole program even though there was plenty of voices out there highlighting how much of a dumb plan austerity was . It's as if they go along with whatever the establishment says without question . This then leads to mistrust and creates the opportunity for right wing media to flourish . We are at a point where we we have a government who are openly corrupt , the legacy media report on it and shock horror no one listens .
For me the news is finished in this country , more light entertainment depending on your political point of view .
