Anyone who suggests that England are a good team after that pathetic performance is having a laugh, pulling ones plonker and tickling ribs. Utter *****. No shape, no attack plan, technically crap and devoid of ideas in general.
Southgate escapes mega criticism again because England didn't lose. Well done Mr. Southgate.
    *****.

There's the same criticism of Kane as of Woodrow.
Sometimes you dont know he's there.

Kane ambled on to a decent long ball early in the second half a good yard in front of the defenders but looked so laboured and leggy they easily caught and dispossessed him. Looks like he's carrying an injury to me.

I don't think we've been good for years tbh, I think we are so far behind the top teams in world football, if world international football was based on the English leagues we would be top end championship imo, how they work out the seedings and rankings is bonkers imo, I think we are closer to Croatia, Denmark, Sweden than we are France, Portugal etc

It doesn't help that we've been spoilt rotten watching the Reds playing high press, full throttle, in your face football all season.

Do Premier League players even use a high press these days? I can't recall seeing a bunch of players look so lethargic since we won 5-0 away at Birmingham.

For me Southgate has to take all the criticism we got away with it against a old croatia side but we have some of the best attacking players for a long time to play 2 holding midfielders against poor sides is very negative.

I’m not a big fan of Southgate but to be fair other than Italy all the big teams have had one decent game and one poor game so far. Also we all have fond memories of Italia 90 and Euro 96 but England were poor in some of those games. If we get a point in the next game and win the last 16 game, everyone will be raving about how great they are

Southgate is the problem. These very same players play without fear for their club sides but are too scared to pass forwards under Southgate
Most of the squad have appeared in European finals over the past couple of years. Look at the performance of Chilwell, Mount and James against Man City. They were outstanding. Other than a couple of decent passes by Mount & Phillips we were lethargic against both Croatia and Scotland. We harp on about the faster pace of the Premier League then try to slow it down at international level. Why isn't Jadon Sancho starting? Scored 20 odd goals and 20+ assists in the Bundesliga. He's got to be a better option than Sterling. Our most creative player ( Grealish) is left on the bench at the expense of another defensive midfielder. The players have lost confidence under Southgate, who is just a suit man with no charisma. We need another Terry Venables type in charge who let his teams play without fear.

would agree with that but again our memories trick us. Remember under Venables, we got a boring draw in the opening match, a poor first half against Scotland, a brilliant performance against the Dutch and then a boring 0-0 against Spain which was just as bad as last nights game. Then Germany of course. We remember that team cos of the Dutch game, and Gaza’s wonder goal. A couple wins and everyone will say what a great manager Southgate is

The difference is that Venables played Anderton, Gascoigne, MacManaman - 3 flair players in midfield with Shearer and Sheringham up front. There is no way Southgate would play 5 attacking players. We also had 3 leaders on the pitch in Adams, Pearce and Ince but that's another story. I remember a brilliant 2nd half performance against Scotland in 96 which shows what a good manager Venables was. We didn't get a 2nd half reaction last night, in fact we were worse. Southgate is the problem.

I think there is a strong argument for playing mount alongside rice in a midfield two. Then you can play Grealish as a number 10 with two wide men either side of Kane. Gary Neville reckons Southgate has to play two defensive mids as the back 4 isn’t good enough

I’ve watched most of the games and I don’t think there is one outstanding team. For me England should have nothing to be afraid of and I’d just go for it with a more attaching lineup

also interesting they are allowed 5 subs but I’ve yet to see a manger use this rule in the same way Val does. England could easily change their front 3 after an hour and be able to bring on quality players - Rashford, Sancho, Calvert Lewin - fresh and full of energy for the last 30 mins. Big Val has spoiled us

I’ve got fed up hearing that we’ve got exciting attacking players when they’re sat down watching ponderous players passing it backwards & sideways.
