So, I think I've bought into the model.

I'll be gutted if we lose our CEO, Manager, and Captain. But, as much as I hate them, these owners definitely know what they're doing. Their reputation is key to the success of the group. They always plan ahead so will have suitable replacements lined up for Dane and Val if they do go and the player recruitment model means we have a production line for every position.

The algorithms and the consistent approach from the owners are what has taken the club forwards. They raised the reputation of Nice before selling them to one of the world's richest men, all while making a profit and running the club sustainably.

There's a lot to be sad about if these 3 leave but there's little loyalty in modern football so there's no point dwelling. We can't guarantee seasons like last year every year but we are in a stronger position than I can remember. For that reason I'm staying positive and giving my backing to the project.

Not saying I overly like our owners, just that I like the overall direction the club is moving in under their stewardship.

    Up the reds.

When I look back over the past 65 years, since I watched my first Reds match against Liverpool in the old Div.2, I/we have witnessed numerous 'highs & lows'. There have been harrowing and sad times as well as euphoric times bordering on ecstasy. This is what being a supporter of your home town club is about. 'Ram Tam' is correct in that the club is currently being run prudently and successfully, both on and off the field. That said, managers, owners, players coaches are temporary. The only constants are the fans. I'm sure the next generation of fans will see over the coming 65 years as many changes in fortune for the club as changes in owners players and coaches. I wouldn't change it for a 'gold pig'.

I think that's the unwritten condition attached to continuing to support the club. It's a bit like a franchise under the name of Barnsley FC operating from a ground called Oakwell. But there can be no ongoing emotional attachment to any individual players or staff. They're just casual hires for this season or part of it - more if you're lucky. And there isn't really any sense in which a team is being 'built' - it's just a trading situation with a continual revolving door. It's up to each and all how they feel about this sort of setup. But I find it difficult to feel as enthused about the club/team as I did ten or twenty years ago.

They're just classic Wheeler dealer types. No love for the club. Conway and Lee at least. Perhaps hate is too strong a word. But I definitely don't like them!

Trouble is mate. We'd struggle to find anyone with that much love for the club who would throw their hat in the ring.
James Cryne was close to walking away. So I don't think he would take over the reins. The Crawley incident put paid to that.
I'm not their biggest fan by a long chalk. But I'm grateful we haven't got a chancer. Willing to risk the fortunes of the club.

Do you not think they've changed tack a bit though orsen. They seem a little more open to experience rather than entirely on youth. Which we all feared. Wanting to extend contracts well before they run out. A wise move btw. Having seen what's happened with Mowatt.

A fair point, but I think this summer will tell us more. Will we resist any offers for the likes of Styles or Helik? I can't help thinking that this might be their optimum time to sell the club, on the back of a playoff finish, 10,000 ST holders in the bank and with the finances in order.

But aren't all players "casual hires" at most clubs? It's rare you get someone who sticks with a club for the majority of their career, like a Matt Le Tissier or what have you.

If a player or manager stays with a club for more than three years, it's definitely not the norm these days.

Are there many people, or consortiums looking for football clubs to buy? Genuine query, when I read the business pages, everyone seems to be profit taking and storing up assets and cash.

I'm old! I started out watching Barry Murphy and Eric Winstanley! :)

I nearly said Barry Murphy instead of Matt Le Tissier, I thought the kids on here would be more familiar with him though ;)

maybe not and that may be no bad thing in that it will be back to running a club as a long term guardian rather than a way to make quick bucks.

I have nothing against the new owners & certainly do not hate them however I have always wondered & still do about what is their actual motive for being here ? , surely business wise there is nothing in it for them ,any potential profits would be pea nuts in their world so I cannot see it being financial yet they have no known affiliation to the club or area , I am genuinely puzzled by it all , no doubt one day everything will become clear but until then I am left scratching my head.

Yeah that’s ok then it only happened whilst they owned the club like. Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself at Oakwell.
