No argument from me, he isn't a nice chap, but he DID try to uphold the role of parliament against the games played by BJ. I just wish the current speaker would stand up to him like Bercow did.
See I always thought he acted like he did because he had a grudge against Johnson and the Tories not out of any integrity, and now he joined Labour, maybe he did. He certainly liked the sound of his own voice too much for me, although tbf the last speaker I thought was really good was Betty Boothroyd.
Whatever we think about him, The statement he put out. Was a kick in the teeth for the tories. I'll settle for that.
Tory party us turned into UKIP in all but name, everyone promoted based on their idealogical purity to the Brexit cause hence we get Patel, Gav Williamson and Matt Hancock holding the great offices of state while being bionically thick and incompetent.
The guy whose name I forget (before Berkow) but after Betty (I think he got done in the expenses row) was an absolutely abysmal. The man has no humour, no charm and no authority. There is a video I've seen of him naming Dennis Skinner where he had to ask the clerk for the name of the MP. Now I appreciate there are over 600 people to remember, but you can't tell me anyone in there doesn't know old Dennis.
