I'm weary of listening to radio and tv presenters giving us a mixture of both, sometimes within the same sentence.
    Calendar tonight was all kilometers.
I do believe that we should be miles simply because our road distances are in miles. I cannot get into my head what 80 kilometres of distance is.
I'm old fashioned and a stick in the mud and I like my imperial measurements but can someone tell me why even the powers that be cannot decide which way we are going.

Km every time for me, I think metric units are miles better.

There's not an ounce of logic in that statement.

Imperial for long distances, people's height and weight.
    Metric for everything else.

Under this government, it wouldn't surprise me if they banned metric completely, just so they could use the term "imperial" all the more.

Its interesting because although I was schooled in Metric and comfortable with measurements in Metres and CM its 2 miles to the Coop, if you ask my to measure table, it would be metric. If I am measuring liquid, ill have 120ml of milk but go to the pub and ask for a pint quite happily. Again if I bake a cake ill measure 250g of flour but ask my my weight and you will get it in Stones and Pounds. Im comfortable with feet and inches but dont confuse me with yards or fractions of imperial measurements. Metric is simple but km/h that's too continental :)

Funnily enough I weigh myself in kg and I've not got a clue what I weigh in stones. But I think of my height in feet and inches. Either way my height is far too small for my weight.

Doesn't matter what system you use, if you're in aviation then height is in feet, and speed is in knots (or mach)

    Wierd innit?

How old are you? That's pretty much the exact same set of measurements I would use in those exact scenarios too.

'pole' and 'perch' come to mind - no idea what they are.

and I'm happier in farenheit (sp) rather than centigrade.
