    I rate Phillips, yep he plays for them but he's a solid lad and does the naughty stuff well. Plus he's a Yorkshireman I forget who he plays for when he's in an England shirt.

    Why? We got the big win against Croatia, the Jocks had to come at us they didn't score. We got a point and tonight we've so far managed to score and take the sting out of a game. Yep it's not been pretty, and we'll seriously have to up our game but if Italy or German did this they'd say they've done the job and not got out of 1st gear. We'll find out next week.

    Being optimistic, I think England are playing smart here and pacing themselves. Assuming results stay like this, they've topped the group, beaten a recent world cup finalist, and have not conceded a single goal. All while not picking up a single injury and not really having to exert themselves.

    Contrast that with Scotland who played their 'final' against England and it cost them tonight.

    I suppose in the knockout stages anything can happen but I've seen better teams than us in the other groups, with dare I say it more desire.

    They were already through before tonight. They had the opportunity to really enthuse the nation and develop some self confidence about attacking but no, score a goal and try and control the game. Not good enough - again. Southgate is a boredom/safety first guru even when he doesn't need to be.
