that's the expectation he's going into from day 1. will be huge pressure on him if they're not top 4 at Christmas
I read it as, Big Val staying and lifting the title on the last day whilst a packed out away end goes mad! But that's just my interpretation
well it's all very quiet on this affair. I so hope our board have the balls to stand up to them and insist its a full payment upfront. But I do wonder what Val's attitude would be if he has to stay put.
Its interesting that the ‘in the know’ footy journalists in that part if the world have gone very quiet the last couple of days. I suspect this isn’t as done and dusted as we have been assuming. It may be this ‘instalments’ business. It may be Val isn’t sure. Don’t forget they’ve been turned down by a few managers recently. There has to be a reason?
Too much hope. It's messing with your head. Just accept that he's going. It'll happen eventually, so it's pointless getting attached.
If they can’t pay 2million upfront then it’s a poor show and smacks of dirty tactics by them. Agree the fee, get the coach to agree so it’s almost impossible for him to go back and then say “about that release clause….” I’d tell em to go jump.
Surely that's the whole purpose of compo. If they want someone on the cheap then they should head down to the Job Centre and pick up an unemployed manager.
Giving him a 4yr deal yet haggling about paying us in instalments. Sorry but if the clause is 2m you pay it upfront. What’s the point otherwise.
Can't believe it's dragging on so long... Of course I wish Val all the best after last season (apart from the matches against BFC). There's no doubt he will be under the microscope a lot more regarding style of play and significant pressure to finish top 2. Not sure I'd want him back if the deal collapsed.
