    I remember him playing, he was pretty good. I'm actually quite pleased and excited if it turns out he's the target and appointment.

    He's done a similar great job in Austria, similar to what Val did.

    Scored a cracking header against Juventus for Brescia, played at RB Salzburg and New York RB, taken a semi pro team of misfits to Europe. worked on shoe string budgets as a coach. Definitely enough to put him in the... Schopp window.

    For sure he's no mug. This could be a good one!

    I don’t think it matters whether someone has played the game for a living. International or not, doesn’t mean they’re going to make a good coach. Plenty of top managers/coaches out there who’ve never played the game.

    Alexander Marchat experienced a rapid rise at Schopp's side. The St. Pölten co-trainer was relegated with the SKN, future prospects uncertain. Schopp brought him to Styria in June and now he will be in the most expensive second division in the world.

    Different style

    What has worked twice for Barnsley should fit again with the know-how from the Austrian Bundesliga. However: Schopp is not an unconditional advocate of offensive pressing like Struber or Ismael.


    The former teammate of Pep Guardiola loves the well-kept structure of the game and does not shy away from having a lot of ball possession. Things will change in Barnsley.
