Would you give him another chance under a new boss? Played 16 times scoring once for Rapid Wien, played well in the Europa League. Personally, I'd love to give him a second chance, I was one of the ones who slated him royally before he was loaned out.
I think it’s unlikely that he would add anything to the team. It’s not like he’s an inexperienced youngster that will have improved for the game time elsewhere. Previous managers’ insistence on playing the likes of Bahre and Ritzmaier was almost like starting every game with 10 men. For me, a large part of the improvement under VI was simply due to picking a better team. We shipped out the dross and signed significantly better players such as Dike, Brittain and Morris.
Val picked players that suited that particular system, maybe the new manager will employ a different system where the forgotten players might shine?
Be interesting to see if he is here at the start of preseason. At the time Struber left and he went out on loan, I thought we would never see the likes of him again in Barnsley and I’m expecting another move being arranged for him before the players come back for training
Given he's only got a year left on his contract, I'd expect the wheels are already in motion to try and offload him. If the new guy is changing formations and needs more midfielders, I'd rather he evaluated him first, but it may well be Ritzmaier just hasn't settled and sees his future elsewhere.
Speaking of Bahre he already appears to be out of favour...... https://www.liga3-online.de/zukunft-offen-svm-verteidiger-osee-trainiert-mit-baehre-vor-abschied/
I suppose the new manager should take a look at him. He's clearly got some quality but he looked so ponderous on the ball last year.
I thought he showed some promise when he first arrived but after the first two or three games he seemed to lose heart. Why Struber kept on starting him every game I’ll never understand
It’s a no from me, the only thing I’d say is Ritz was played a lot at left wing back by struber. I would have liked to see more of him in centre mid.
Maybe so, but I'm not against giving him a chance. It was less Ritzmaieir himself, more just playing him come rain or shine. Try again, if it still doesn't work out let him leave (contract can't be much longer than this season?).
Presumably this disorientated him to such an extent that he was no longer capable of passing, tackling and shooting at a standard consistent with professional football?
Maybe. Small details can disorientate people. Imagine you've got tactical instructions swirling round your head in a foreign language, new team mates who's playing styles/traits you don't know, opponents you don't know, social isolation being stuck in the Holiday Inn Barnsley while you find a house, new league, new playing styles, new pace of play, new position and role. I'd give him a chance. Everybody deserves a chance.
The one player who i hope gets a chance would be Odour he’s still only a bairn and looked to have plenty of natural ability and skill.
