Oh absolutely - Ismael obviously had a huge influence on Mowatt, hence his probable destination.

Just a shame we couldn't tie him down during the 20 months we've been talking to him.

Average tenure of a Championship Manager is around 14 months. So we are not a million miles of everyone else.

Why would you follow a manager who bypassed midfield and didn't play you to your strengths according to many on here hmmm

Maybe he believes in his undoubted ability to play in the Championship and perhaps beyond, and is also in a much more advantageous position to judge and make a decision about his future than those of us who are basically speculating

Other clubs are after him where he could get similar money and wouldn't have to move 2 hours away from home.

Football is a weak-link sport, unlike say basketball. You are only as good as your worse player, not your best. Its no good signing Messi if you've got Tom Kennedy at left back. So I hope we can improve in our full backs, which I see as where we have weakness, especially if Styles moves to the middle. Otherwise, losing Mowatt isn't a disaster - like I say, as long as we improve in perceived areas of weakness.

Really? You know all of the offers he's received and level of each offer? Crikey, please do share them, I think we'd all be interested in such detailed insight.

My nephew has just gone to work for Red Bull (Leipzig), on the face of things they seem to be well run, but they do have a high churn of staff. New Head coach (American), three assistant coaches (German),Head of sports science (Brit), physiotherapist (Brit) and a sporting director to be appointed.

If he signs a new deal with us now he's mental. In that case, he's given up c.10s of thousands of pounds in wages that he would have had paid to him over the course of a year. Why would anyone do that? It's not speculation to say that's dumb.

Also, your point on speculation? Surely a fans forum is for speculation. Should we only be posting if we have hard facts?

Speculation is fine, I enjoy and welcome it, it’s when you form an opinion and insist your opinion is right based on that speculation. You say he’s given up thousands do you really know that for sure? The only opinion I’m advocating is none of us really know so why take on the negative aspect of it.

Maybe, but it is a basketcase league, so not sure being below that particular average is a good place to be. Of the three promoted teams, Norwich and Brentford have had their coaches in for a few years, while Watford have their high turnover through their own choice, rather than coaches leaving them.

My concern is, if we change coach every year, each time, the new coach is bound to have their way of doing things and probably their own preferred formation and views on what attributes they want in players. Having to rebalance the squad to reflect the new coach's methods can't be sustainable? What if Schopp comes in, and doesn't see a role for Devante Cole in his preferred formation? That's a three year contract gone to waste. The £2m (minus 300k reported spend on Schopp) received for Ismael could easily be eaten up.

At which part did I say I knew all the offers he has had? I know Nottingham forest and Sheffield United were strongly linked both could pay similar to west brom, I know he's just bought a house in Doncaster so it isn't just about money with Alex like you say, I know if a manager held your game back as much as you make out val did with Alex you wouldn't follow him 2 hours away.

Maybe Mowatt likes hoofball. Maybe he's not bothered what style he's asked to play.

Maybe players are more concerned with how much money they are paid and maybe getting the most game time. Ismael obviously rates him, I'm sure that plays a large part too. I'd guess Mowatt would rather play for Stendel or Ismael over Heckingbottom or Struber.

I'd hope its the supporters who care more about the style of play as they are the ones watching it.

But you're assuming plenty based on speculative rumour. Whoever Mowatt goes to, it will be because he's getting paid significantly more than if he was at Oakwell. If thats under a coach he doesn't have to get to know from scratch, thats even easier for him. 2hrs is nothing in terms of travel and its very easy to move home. On his new contract he can buy a second home or even rent.

But none of us know where he is yet going, or which clubs were in for him, or the amounts involved. Mowatt is a professional and will do whats best for his pocket first and foremost and maybe his career a close second. I've no issue with that.

Or maybe mowatt doesn't fell ismael's style of play held him back as much as you do?

Rather play for stendel or ismeal over hecky or struber? Not sure why he did seem to play well under all those coaches except hecky who never gave him much of a opportunity, he got on well with ismeal as did most of the squad who spoke highly of him same with stendel

Supporters care alot about.winning games, playing nice passes then losing is no fun to watch

Commuting 2 hours each day from Doncaster to West brom would be near on impossible 4 hours travel a day minimum.

You don't know what his motives are obviously money is important but your saying lining his pockets 1st priority and his career 2nd?? Now who is speculating?

Why have you got this mental rut that the only alternative to hoofing it is to play pointless short passes on the edge of your box before losing the ball?

So you think he's going to his next club for less money?

Why have you got a mental rut of taking things out of context, I said playing nice passing football but losing is no fun to watch either which I've seen on many occasions over the years.

And again I didn't say that he is going for less money but I don't think money will be is only decision and possibly not even the deciding factor in his choice of club. I imagine a couple of clubs closer to home could pay him similar to what the one our ex manager is at and he wouldn't have to travel 4 hours a day or relocate.

To support this, two professional footballers live in my village (close to Penistone). Both play for Peterborough.
