Are you suggesting they weren't aware of that information (I mean how could they be?) or that you think they offered more than that?
It's the fact that the topic has moved from Mowatt leaving and wishing him well to discussions about the statement. It's a faux pass if ever I've seen one. Boris Johnson and Cummings would be proud of that one.
We'll have to agree to differ. Whether by design or not, it shifts focus to the player. I don't think there was any need for that. Murphy and Ismael have been glowing about Mowatt and hoping his future was here. We all know we wanted to keep him. I just don't think we should be putting out statements like that. They did the same with Pinnock. Patrick did the same with Hourihane. I just don't think its required.
If it wasn't in the statement and they simply said he had left upon his contract expiring, that would have caused uproar. Personally see nothing wrong with what they've wrote. Suggesting that it's the most lucrative indicates we went above the norm to try and keep him. No more no less
Not a case of looking deeply, it's just a case of critiquing communications to ensure your message is delivered how you intend it. I'm just doing that with a client now over a communication and we've batted it back numerous times to ensure all nuances and possibilities of how its viewed and could be considered are taken into account.
One of the very best lads I've had the pleasure to work with. Cracking player who has developed the weaker areas of his game, much like Hourihane did immediately before him and has written his name into the history of the club.
Hopefully we'll get all the **** news out of the way this week so that we can start looking forward again.
Aex joined us in January 2017 following departure of Conor Hourihane. We all had big expectations of him. His first 18 months at the club were major dissapointment with red card debut, just 12 appearances and a single goal return saw him shipped out on loan to League 1 Oxford. He returned to the club for start of the 2018/19 season, and I fully expected him to move on. But he returned with winning attitude and that season formed a fomidable midfield partnership with Cameron Mcgeehan. Scoring 8 goals in promotion winning campaign. Since then he was given captains armband and development gone from strength to strength. Last season we saw the very best of him. Always a sad to lose key member of the squad. But we are a squad and 3 seasons ago most had written off his career at Oakwell. I wish him all the very best and thank him for efforts and for the memories! For his sake I hope he gets opportunity to play regular first team football. But now presents and opportunity for new face to shine, or squad member to step up and claim midfield role e.g. Styles or Kane?
The one positive now is that of the players contracts that run out in a years time (without an option of a further year), there is only Sollbauer and Palmer who are more likely to be around the first team squad as potential starters. Victor has another year, so does Ben Williams. Also Ritzmaier but suspect he'll move on. Woodrow, Styles, Helik and Andersen have another 2 years, so the only reason to accept any offers for our first team players is through choice.
Agree. Schopp has inherited a decent squad. If he replaces Mowatt and maybe signed another forward and full back it would go down as a decent summer.
Thanks Alex seen out the full term of his contract unlike player's from our recent past, his he unreplaceable no hopefully he's already here in the shape of Styles or Kane .
