Never understood this... “I’ve got a little money and a takeaway curry, I’m on my home to my wife.” Who takes a curry on the underground? It would stink the carriage out. Paul, why didn’t you just go down your local Indian? Would have dodged a good kickin an all.
Whatever the sense of the lyrics one of the favourite songs of my youth. Bought it as a single and just about wore it out….
I’ve carried a take-away on the tube many times in the past, although I’ve always been considerate enough to wait until I got off before tucking in. It can be quite difficult with the waft of KFC up your nostrils.
Amusingly, my band (who generally do originals) do covers of both Tube Station and That's Entertainment. Badly I suppose.
One stop on the tube. Missis with plates in the oven. Jobs a good un. When I lived in Tooting Broadway I’d often nip to a curry place in Tooting Bec. Double wrapped always warm enough for when I got home.
Not only that, she's "polishing the glasses and pulling out the cork." Who actually drinks wine with a curry?! What a calamity.
my favorite band and there best song, although plenty come close strange town doesn't get the highlights but up near the top i would give an arm and a leg to see them at a gig but he says they will never reunite seen weller perform his new stuff, not that bothered seen from the jam with bruce foxton, good but summat missing and a tribute called the Jamm were really good 15 years ago
Argee with the above a fantastic band and a great tune only wish i could have seen them live back in the day but ive managed to see From The Jam twice so next best thing.
Yes. And why open it so far in advance? I'm presuming its a red and she's letting it breathe. Like you do.
Fantastic bass line from Bruce Foxton. The Jam were much more than just Weller, although he is a genius. I respect his decision not to go back though.
There was another thread about best advice you ever received. "Never go back to a lit firework". The Jam were incendiary.
Yes "but the wine will be flat and the curry's gone cold." Bet you don't drink fizzy wine do ya.? Can only think Paul's sophistication in the late seventies/early eigthies extended to Lambrussco - don't even think Lambrini had been invented then. The word I think we are all grasping for here is "hudibrastic" Words or lyrics that dont make sense but are included for the sake of advancing a ryhme.
Well spotted. Back then there'd be no Prosecco so I'm going for champagne as it was a special occasion. The again curry and champagne....
