So he’s planning to take fitness coach, performance analyst and other backroom staff with him. Same with Dane Murphy possibly? I think some serious questions need to be asked about how this has been allowed to happen if it hasn’t been guarded against in their service agreements. we are literally having the heart ripped out of the club and a lot of it is very much avoidable
Restrictive covenants. But as we know they're not very aware of them If I leave my job I can't poach anyone from my company to join my new company within 12 months. Difficult to prove I know, but not if half a dozen of them went within a week!
Been here before no need to panic. Have you considered Schopp may also to bring in his own backroom team. As for Murphy wish him well. Noted he was very vocal when we were winning but silence was deafening at the begining of his reign when Struber departed. Fans filled with anxiety and so many questions left unanswered. Dissapoint to lose Big Val and Mowatt. But excited to see what Schopp can do and how team can kick on.
Managers do this all the time - back room staff follow their number one around. Sure it's frustrating, but nothing new imo.
Murray wasn't really his backroom staff though or the fitness bloke as they were there before him. Different with those you bring in or promote.
That would be down to dane Murphy as I think its him and James cryne who work on the spreadsheet, although will forest be looking at the same sort of players as us? Disappointed that val went then he took mowatt with him was a big blow, not too bothered about his backroom staff that happens all time.
val hasnt taken am anywhere, he was a free agent, to stay or go as he pleased, it was obvious as far back as jan/feb that he was playing the % game to see if we went up/bigger club came in for him/more lucrative contract. i feel sorry for val and his staff even though it will serve them right because looking at wba squad do you think he can get them playing the high intensity high press football that he had us playing ?. he's got 5/6 weeks to do it in, i'm willing to bet that our squad on day one of pre season are a hell of a lot fitter than 95% of the divisions players where on the last day of last season. and so what that danes going, we were apoplectic when gg left but that didnt end so badly....................... in the words of catherine tates nan................. f**king chillax will ya
It’s ridiculous management by the club. If he brought his team with him fair enough to allow him to take existing club personnel with him is sloppy negotiating. Mind you if the CEO isn’t planning to hang around why would he bother! still onwards and upwards might get somebody better!
Only bothered about Mowatts departure, we'll get a new mouth piece and someone to do the filing and all the last 3 coaches seem to just drop into the role, so impressed we've got him in so quickly.
I'm surprised we haven't signed anybody else for the first team this week given the bad news. The board usually like a good subterfuge.
Agreed, looking at the squad we are short of experience now in midfield - between Kane, Palmer and Styles I think we have quality, but they sorely lack experience at this level and I fear we could be back to be being bullied in the playground again, I'd I'd take an older, less mobile solid Champ midfielder who can stand up for the team - not easy to find I know, but in this case we don't need another 20 year old in that position.
The Murray loss is a blow as it seemed like the club wanted one first team coach to be part of the backroom team regardless of the head coach and his assistants for consistency. Wonder if we’ll promote a coach from the academy to work alongside whoever Schopp wants in
Not too fussed about this tbh . If the next incumbent wants their own staff we have to pay them up or move to a different position in the club . There’s always a Dale Tongue ready to make a mark somewhere .
Following brexit the days of an overseas manager turning up with all of his mates may be numbered. Any individual looking for a visa as a “Performance Manager” (which covers most coaching and sports science-related roles) requires a degree and five years’ experience in bands 1 to 5 or at international level. This makes it more difficult for assistants to follow like they used to.
Didn't I see Jos and Tonda, in the gallery pictures? There are literally thousands of highly qualified s,pecialist elite sports fitness coaches and sports scientists around, plus even even National League clubs use video analysis. Not too worried about the departures if I'm honest. The important thing is for Markus Schopp,to gain the confidence and belief of the players and show he wants to be here. We only need to recruit 2 or 3 players, for key roles really.
