I know people say its what we do and how were set up but how long do we keep having no ambition and keep paying no where near the going rate for the position were in. So much promise last year and all that at the minute is being ripped apart. Looks like a manager, full backroom team, CEO, captain and who ever else we decide to cash in on are all gone. Thats a big heart of a club to fill in about 6 weeks before a season. Not many more fans i can think of put up with as much **** as us and still keep turning up. Love the club but its draining at times
There was a buy out clause with the manager but I am not sure on who else we have cashed in on but unfortunately the size of the club & the income it generates will always dictate club policy, I do not think there is any lack of ambition , its just that we do not have the financial clout to support it , John Dennis tried it & we ended up eventually in administration , I do not think gambling the club is an option .
This is now a condition of sale if you buy into a ST or any other affiliation with the club. I can't see how it can build anything lasting, but then again I was wrong about this season!
Every summer, the club is accused of having no ambition, and yet as every season passes, we seem to go from strength to strength. Do I think we'll make the top 6 again this season? As the squad stands, no. Do I think we'll re-invest the money from any departures in order to maintain our top 6 status? Yes. If Ismael was under contract, and Mowatt was offered the biggest deal ever, and both didn't want to stay, then we're better off without them. There's work to be done, but that doesn't mean we'll be in a worse position after. It certainly doesn't say we lack ambition to me? You say that no other club has it like us, but literally the fans of every club say the same about their club. I've read a few forums in the last few weeks, and I've seen Ipswich, Palace, West Brom and MK Dons fans saying pretty much the same thing.
It appears to me that the going rate as you call it is set by people who cannot afford what they are doing (unless parachuting) and this is supported by others who are trying to keep up with them. The going rate is set too high to be sustainable and I for one am glad we try to live within our means. I do not see this a lacking ambition.
Am assuming and may be wrong that our new Manager will do the same to his current club and nick the support staff he has at present...sadly its not unusual for behind the scenes staff to get sacked when a new guy comes in to make way ...funny thing about long term support tho..we were in Div 4 in my time and now we're.....not
Jed Wallace has just left Millwall at the end of his contract Their star man. It happens. It's football.
Sheffield Wednesday had big ambitions, spent big, had an owner who splashed the cash. Where are they now?
And this time we will use the middle of the field I know it was effective under Val . But let's compromise and show these boy can play football too.
Just because some fans have a different view to yours, doesn't mean you have to constantly shoot them down and claim the better fan card. Nothing wrong with the OP's post, he's not calling for a boycott or anything. He is entitled to feel concerned about an exodus of staff. Doesn't make him a "bed wetter" and any less of a fan than you.
Support staff would be welcomed, I just hope he doesn't start down the Austrian player route as, Sollbaur aside, that hasn't gone well for us.
