I understand and it's the right attitude to have. I just don't think it's the same as a regular person switching jobs for a pay rise. I know managers take staff with them, but my point was mainly about Mowatt. I'm sure Val was calling him up when he joined the Baggies convincing him to jump ship. It's football, it happens. I just don't think it's as simple as Val leaving for a pay rise, and it's not comparable to regular employment. He's took the crown jewel (Mowatt) with him, plus Adam Murrray.
The ideal is a mix of change and continuity with most businesses. Seems like our academy is the consistent bit at the moment and then obviously media team/sales etc. I'm looking forward to next season, it's been far too long since I've been to Oakwell.
Depending what field or sector you’re in you could have non-compete restrictions, particularly if you’re decamping for a direct competitor. My comment is not one of emotion or hard feeling. I’d move on if I were him - he’s never going to repeat on last season and his stock will only fall staying here. But to decamp with the apparatus he found at the club when he arrived nine months earlier? Legal, yup. Classless, yup. Happy for us to be a steppingstone. Taking part of the stone with you once you’ve stepped past is disrespectful, particularly if it was there before you came. But we will survive.
It's the food chain buddy. Remember 2011 when we took Rochdale's manager, assistant, fitness coach, goalkeeper coach and two of their star players. As it stands, we've already replaced Ismaël and two of the staff. Perhaps Markus will bring in an assistant which will top the staffing levels back up. Mowatt is a big player to replace. Whether that's from within or externally, time will tell. I tend to look at things in an optimistic light and at least things seem to have been sorted quickly enough that we can move on and forward as a club.
To be fair, we were challenging for the play-offs at one stage. Although admittedly, their contributions to that were at best minimal.
The analyst who himself was promoted from the academy when Hecky took one to Leeds, has been replaced by an analyst from the academy.
Thought it was a forum to discuss things, didn't realise that was classed as being nosey, just interested in why you want someone else to move on, especially when we have lost so many key personal in such a short time, I would have thought a period of stability might be beneficial but you think differently
Winder is in the same role but at Sheff Utd. He had a year at Ipswich after Leeds cleared them out. Clapham is head of coaching at Loughborough University. The analyst, Alex Bailey is at Doncaster I believe.
