Not having digs at all, to be honest I don't grasp what you've posted because it makes no sense. You suggested Nudger's posts were somehow reasonable comments taken the wrong way, and when the content was pointed out you started waffling on about Spanish and the negro leagues as if they are somehow relevant.

 

If you don't grasp what I was saying say so don't accuse me of defending him and then say I'm waffling on ...if you read all my posts on this thread they follow through and clearly point out my feelings on why I think YN was doing what he was doing.and the way he was acting...i also call out the bulling that has and does take place on here from time to time....I'm sorry you see it as waffling it was an attempt on my part to speak independently and in depth about the actual problem....enjoy your night

 

I've re-read them, can't say the spanish/negro league post is any clearer at all. As for "defending" him - I think it's fair to characterise your post as defending him given that you tried to offer a reasonable explanation for his behaviour which just isn't an accurate account of his posts, and I can't see why you'd invent an alternative narrative unless you wished to defend him.

I think what shed is alluding to is that healthy debates are stifled because people are set in their ways certainly concerning race' take the "N" word for instance' not a word that i would ever use but Richard prior and more recently Chris rock have used it in their acts regularly and far from the audience being outraged they were belly laughing' that tells me that its not the word as such thats offensive but its dependant on whos saying it' if i asked what people thought of Bernard manning i would imagine that 99% of people on here would say he's a racist and his material should never be showed in public again and that would be fair enough' but on the other hand if i asked what everyone thought of Charlie williams i would imagine the vast majority would say good old Charlie he was one of our own' now bearing in mind that a big chunk of Charlies act was based on racism the question could be asked why can Charlie say things that Bernard can't ?' the real answer is of course is that Charlie is black so its acceptable' the point of this post is not to cause division or arguments but to show that things aren't as black and white ( pardon the pun) as we sometimes try to make out and that people that don't agree with you aren't necessarily wrong or racist its just that their idea of what constitutes racism may not be the same as yours..

 

But there are some things which are pretty universally accepted to be racist in terms of use of language. It's not as simple as saying "well it's a difference of opinion, agree to disagree". My main issue with what shed posted was that he was trying to suggest that Nudger was trying to have a reasonable debate and that he was somehow unreasonably shut down or a victim of PC gone mad. He wasn't. There was no healthy debate which was stifled, just unapologetic use of racist language.

 

I accept the negro thing with nudger as i honestly don't remember it' my post was more a general observation' people see things differently on all things in life and we all have to accept that' if i call someone a b***K b*****D then that would make me a racist but me laughing at rising damp wouldn,t in my opinion but i may get labelled as such...
