if he's been told he needs to move players out before bringing others in, a week is plenty to decide which players you think are surplus to requirement
Harsh as it sounds he's served his purpose Anderson and Helik are more than capable. He was a great signing, though we needed him from the start of our first season back in the championship.
We've too many players.. trouble with giving out long contracts. Can't get shut if they're not making the grade.
That isn’t surprising to me , I Would be sad to see Sol go. But I don’t see him getting much game time, if we hold on to Mads. Helik, Sibbick and Halme etc. I reckon he wouldn’t be the sort, to be happy to be a bench warmer at his age. And would possibly welcome the move.
Yeah, I just think he offers more than being a player. He's such a leader and probably the ideal person to have in the dressing room when you're 2 nowt down at half time.
Seemed the most likely to go given his age and that he only has a year left on his contract. He's helped a lot to bring on the others, mainly Andersen. Time for Sibbick/Kitching to step up now.
If that is true that is pathetic. Sollbauer for me is one of the main reasons we stayed up the season before last. He shored up our defence and got players such as Andersen to feel more confident and composed. Whenever you watch the matchday recaps he is always the loudest player in the tunnel barking out orders and getting all the other players amped up before the game. Even on the bench you could see him encouraging the players. So for me he was the obvious choice to replace Mowatt as captain and if this is true that he is leaving that sadly won’t be the case. He’s only 31, he’s not over the hill or past it. If anything he’s probably in his prime. Will be sad to see him go.
Will be sad to see him leave but I can understand why the club are letting him go . He owes us absolutely nothing and I know he goes with all the best wishes of every reds fan . Would like to see him come back in some capacity some day, his enthusiasm will help future squads IMO . All the best Solly . Once A Red Always A Red .
I agree with most of your post but would stop short of calling it pathetic. Maybe he's just been told he probably won't get much game time next season so a move away suits all parties.
I'd like him to stay but it was obvious when they started sharing out game time between him and Sibbick his days were numbered. I wish him well.
Much rather have him than not have him helen. A very solid experienced leader. I'd start him at Cardiff away in a tough physical sort of game.
If it is Sollbauer it must be a kick in the teeth for him, didn’t his partner and kid move over here towards the middle/end of last season?
Sad to see him go he has been good for us in his time here, its a position I thought a player would leave with kitching joining in January. I'd be more sad if helik or mads were sold time now for sibbick and kitching to step up.
Soll has been a very good addition to our club. But we have a lot of guys who can play in his position who will also be on far less money and more likely to start games.
Sad to see Solly go. Has been a great professional and helped us stay up under Struber. However, he was caught out for pace quite a few times this season and lost his place to Sibbick for the most part. While I understand his leadership has been huge in improving our players this will be their third season at this level so they should be more experienced and wiser than they were when he first arrived. We need players who will play not cheerleaders. This season I’d argue he would be behind Helik, Andersen, Sibbick and perhaps Kitching. We’d still have Halme and Moon for cover. From a business sense there’s no point having a player sat on a decent wage not playing because he’s good to have around the place. His wage can go towards two young talents who will improve the team and hopefully make us a profit in a few season time.
Of all the non-fringe players, this is the one that is the least disruptive for us. He'd been alternating in the starting role with Sibbick, depending on whether pace or experience was the key requirement, and we now have Kitching available too. We'll miss his experience, but we also need to act in his best interests, and the offer on the table might be something he wants to take up, if he's no longer deemed a key part of the squad. He's been brilliant for us. Signing him was arguably the key difference in us staying up two seasons ago and, while less influential last season, he's still capable of outstanding performances, the most recent one which springs to mind being the Huddersfield away game. I'd be sad to see him go, but it's not entirely a surprise if this ultimately turns out to be accurate news (and I've no reason to doubt the source, so am working on the basis that it is).
He's served his purpose. He was brought in to bring on Anderson, Halme and Sibbick. He's done that. We now have Kitching and Helik at the club too. It was inevitable even though I don't like it.
