    Does the vaccine prevent transmission?

Probably, up to a certain percentage of probability.

This isn't someone going to the bar and needing to show ID that they are old enough to drink. This to work would be two SIA licensed security guards on the door from open till close every day of the week to make sure nobody steps inside that haven't yet proved their health status. So that's going to cost a venue a few grand a week and they need to make it up from somewhere. So they add say two quid on a meal and a quid on a drink. Then the usual customers notice the steep increase and stop going or don't go as much because it's a rip off. So the pub then struggles more to pay bills and some decide to shut.

Be good if the pub-owning companies took some of the hit. But at the end of the day it's business, isn't it? Higher prices must come into it if the customer wants to eat or drink in a safe environment?

If you hover on that link, you'll see it's directing to here: https://floristeriakarismatropical.com/digital. I wouldn't be clicking that if I were you.

How much are you willing to pay to "be safe"

    £10 a pint in the No7?

    £6 for a coffee in a costa?

Given the term "covid secure" is a crock of *****.

I think many of them have already taken a fairly substantial hit in the last year or so at least the reputable ones, some probably just expected the tennants to take all the hit though but they wont be helping here either

Pubs have taken enough of a hit trying to break even with social distancing. Next week pubs, bars and clubs will be rammed like the good old days. Hospitality venues won't need to worry about people worrying about safety.

Warwick University have performed modelling based on various levels of "opening up" among the population. From "Go mad and ram all the pubs!" to "I'm not going anywhere near those plague carrying heathens!". The models show the "Go mad" scenario leading to 125,000 to 150,000 extra deaths from Covid over the next year or so. The other extreme shows *only* 60-80,000. They also show it happening over the next few years in a continued cycle.

It appears the UK government has descended into a "group think" tied into the 19th July opening up date, without looking at other scenarios.

I hope the models are wrong. I hope it isn't anyone reading this or your friends or family in those numbers.

So where are these deaths going to come from?

Given that c50% of Covid related deaths are healthcare based.

I can hardly see the residents of the Sunnyview Care home travelling enmass to Ministry of Sound to large it up on an all-nighter

The residents might not go, but their grandchildren probably will, and those grandchildren might want to visit. So if 1-2 ravers get infected from a night at Ministry of Sound, they pass it on to their families, colleagues and friends. Who pass it on, and at the end of the chain is the care homes and the older relatives who live with them.

So you are giving the young ones a choice - go out clubbing, or visit your older relatives.

You are also effectively sentencing the 1m+ people with compromised immune systems to virtual house arrest so people can have a rave.

Many people who go to a club are spontaneous with the decision. Maybe a pub shuts, they don't want to go home yet and decide to pop to a club. For many this will end as they will have to plan it in advance to go take a unreliable and bad for the planet LFT within the last two days. Even if you have had the vaccine you have to hope the venue you're going to has decent internet to cope with demand. This wouldn't work if stadiums implement it as you cannot get Wifi at a game.

Everyone who had been jabbed in Singapore is elligible for something similar.

I have a QR with all my vaccinatiob information that I can show if someone asks me. I am pretty sure here its linked to passport or Singapore IC.

“This wouldn't work if stadiums implement it as you cannot get Wifi at a game.”

Fans not being able to access 4G or a public WiFi across a large stadium is a completely separate thing to a private WiFi network in specific locations.

The track and trace app here in Singapore knows you are vaccinated , so when you checkin anywhere they know you are vaccinated.

    Its not that difficult

Boris will see the huge rise in people feeling they have to take a jab for a social life because of that idiot Macron and try it himself.
