There's soooo many. Legendary Nights The Tale of Gatti vs. Ward is incredible Vice Dark Side of The Ring Chris Benoit Part 1 and 2 Ken Burns Civil War Hitman Hart Wrestling With Shadows And just tons of stuff out there on youtube that are basically like short documentaries/profile videos. My interest is usually sports, music, history, geography and occasion animals/nature.
Senna / The Last Dance are both outstanding. The biggest compliment I can pay them is that I’m not that bothered about F1 or basketball, but I was absolutely gripped by both.
The one I mean does have narration etc and starts before 9/11 with two French filmmakers making a documentary about a rookie firefighter. They were the ones who got the only footage of the first plane hitting, and they’re in the towers when the first one falls. Both survive
9/11 Naudet Brothers Doc. You must see it. For all mankind - Apollo missions. It's no joke living in Barnsley.
Don't **** with cats The last dance Wild Wild Country Lost Highways - Foo Fighters Searching for Sugarman Frank Sidebottom - Being Frank My Octopus Teacher Alex Ferguson - Never Give In Man on a wire Class Action Park (Gotta watch the Action Park comedy before it first) Evil Genius Tiger King 24 hour party people (Does that count !!)
Best documentary I saw was with Brian Cox. It was on the BBC. All about quantum mechanics and parallel universes. Can't remember the title because I missed the opening credits but I was transfixed after that.
That's the one I've got on DVD. It's an uncomfortable watch, but a brilliant documentary and the footage from inside the building is haunting. I've seen two versions of it, as I think the DVD version is an updated one, which includes a follow-up. The first one I saw covered the story of the priest inside the building, and commented that he became the first casualty of 9/11. I'm not 100% sure without checking, but the later version didn't cover him to the same extent, so I think they edited some of the original documentary in the update. They Shall Not Grow Old is another incredibly powerful documentary. Night Will Fall was chilling, as it tells the story of the unfinished & unreleased (until now) documentary from the BEF team who liberated some of the German concentration camps. It includes some really harrowing footage, and I imagine the actual documentary, which has had some limited releases previously would be equally, if not more, hard-hitting to watch. Just to lighten the tone, given that all the above cover very sombre subjects, but This Is Spinal Tap should get an honorary mention in the category, despite it being a spoof. It's one of the greatest films of all time, even if its more mockumentary in nature.
Most been mentioned on here. Netflix has ithe genre down at the minute. Mormon Murders, Bikram and Murder By The Coast are good new ones No one had mentioned Diego Maradona yet though - outstanding
The best I've ever seen. Incredible piece of filmmaking that completely changed my perspective and opinions. I'd add Ken Burns epic Vietnam War series, The Defiant Ones about Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine, and OJ Simpson: Made I'm America for its all round social commentary on race in the US.
Blackfish is superb Love anything by Attenborough and Theroux Tiger King is also a must watch series Football wise the amazon specials on Spurs and City are really good too as is the Sunderland one
