Yeah i guess so. I reckon there would be a pool of talent on the radar continuously, tracking the availability and progress of future potentials. Then when we action we narrow the pool and engage so the candidate shortlist is almost automatic. Then its down to a few interviews and a offer negotiation.

What also aids the speed we can appoint at CEO level is we don't expect any experience at that level, either in football or generally.

Just looking at the statement again, it isn't clear when he'll start or what the phrase means about a "transition"... it either means a period of handholding or is an Americanism for... he's working a period of notice.

I think this appointment shows that we always have a successor lined up for every position in the club. But it does take time to confirm that successor.

In many ways, this new guy seems more experienced than Dane, and has good knowledge of academies.

Dane’s departure hasn’t been announced, and that will be for a variety of reasons no doubt.

Not sure how it works - but I believe he’s here on a work visa. If we announce he’s left us, and the Forest position falls through, he has a limited time of stay in the UK I believe. Whereas if we keep him as an ‘employee’ until he has signed for Forest, than he’s not got an issue. Could be something very simple on the lines of that - looking after the club, but also ensuring we look after and respect staff who have done a good job for us.

Of course not!!! It's obviously perfectly normal to announce the appointment of a new CEO before you've announced the previous one left some weeks before. Gi'oer!

Would you prefer a statement saying

"As reported elsewhere we can today Dane Murphy has left the club but we can't definitely say where he's gone or whether we are due any compensation at the moment, but rest assured we'll have a further update in couple of weeks"

    Or

"Following the appointment of Khaled as our new CEO we can now confirm that Dane Murphy has taken over as CEO of Nottingham Forest and has taken Club Secretary who's name I've forgotten with him. We'd like to place on record thanks for their efforts I Barnsley's continued progression and can confirm we have received compensation for the club Secretary which will be invested back into the squad.

Amazing how defensive certain individuals get if you have the audacity to ask why. As though you've slagged their mum off to their face or something. How dare we!

I even said there may be a good reason for it, but seems strange that's all.

Unbelievable. The club has done great in my eyes this past season, yet get branded as moaning/ slagging them off just because I dare question it.

I'd expect an official announcement that someone has left. Where he has gone to isn't especially relevant. I expect that generally before a new appointment has been made, but at the very very least, to mention it in an article announcing a new appointment.

As a privately controlled company, we aren't obligated to announce anything. But it's maybe worth mentioning a listed company would have to immediately announce that a CEO was leaving. There's no reason we've made this so difficult for ourselves again.

DON'T tell Priti or she'll have manned satellites intercepting them before they enter the atmosphere. Only the ones that have 300+ caps for Neptune will be allowed in.

I don't disagree with you in theory.

If there are reasons why they can't announce his departure (remember they've removed him as a Director with companies house), then surely you'd hold off officially announcing his successor too?

I'd have no issue with that at all. But I struggle to see how its best practice ever to announce an appointment when their predecessor hasn't been announced as leaving.

It has been announced in the Yorkshire Post and Chronicle. And on Companies House, but I believe that's a legal requirement.
We're just waiting for a well balanced statement from the club with all the finer details it.

Stop getting thi knickers in a twist over something so trivial.

Wait until we're at the right end of the table again, I'll be setting up a gofundme page for a Chien and Conway statue in the new town square, shall l count you in?

The YP and Chronicle were their articles though that stemmed from rumours at the Forest end. Nothing from the club.

And yes, it is a formality to remove directors from CH once they stop fulfilling their roles. Which should ideally be the point its announced.

Curious how simply highlighting a bizarre process is getting nickers in a twist.

I'll do commando anyway thanks, bit warm today ;-)

And I'll continue to support the local food bank. I don't think alleged and unproven billionaires need to be bronzed for no obvious reason do they? ;-)

I thought they weren't billionaires but 2 blokes living in a flat above a shop in America. It would be a fitting tribute to two poor men.

Hence the use of the words alleged and unproven, do keep up.
