    Chaplin
    Cole
    Frieser
    Adeboyejo
    Simoes
    Miller

Quite healthy in terms of numbers however in my opinion some of those still need moving on.

Personally we need to get the following shipped out as i dont believe any are up to the standard needed for championship football -

    Ritzmaier
    Christie-Davies
    Adeboyejo
    Simoes
    Miller

And maybe try to bet a loan deal for Ben Williams. (Harsh i know but i dont feel he is all that)

Would be happy if we then get in-

Obbi Oulare taget man (looks like a deal is close)

    Flemming central midfielder

    Kenneth Paal left back

Come on Tarn and Stephen Dawson like this.

I think I’d put Moon in the central defenders section and we’ll see Helik move on.

I agree with your incomings, position wise anyway.

Left back and a centre mid who is, or can be.. a bit of a tw@t.. way, way too many similar tippy-tappy types in our mid-field for my liking.
James Cryne needs to tweek his algorithm a bit..

I am not sure why you want Christie-Davis moved on, he was loaned out to aid his development exactly the same as we did with Callum Styles , now that he is back surely he should have the opportunity under the new coach to see if he is a prospect or not, I have not seen him play & may be you have but I do not understand how you have judged him .

Yeah I like the squad depth. I think we do need a CM and a LB. Imagine adding a LB as good as Brittain? Big improvement to our team. (Obviously Styles was as good but he'll be moving into the centre)

I think we've got too many strikers now, especially if we have another arriving imminently. Who do we move on? Miller, Victor?

I don't know why, but I'd like to see Ritzy given another go.

It's a clean slate again. They've all got opportunity to stake a claim and show what they can do.

We'll need back ups for positions as injuries and suspensions bite, and the cost of employing better could be significant and probably isn't realistic.

If we've Chaplin, Woodrow, Morris, Cole and Frieser, plus the pending signing of another front man, that seems more than enough to get you through a season. I like Victor. Though he didn't score many last season, I thought he was sometimes our best front man given how we were playing. It may be that an approach that involves using the ball more suits him better. It may not.

We'll see over the next few weeks what the new coach makes of what he has at his disposal.

Yeah.. but clean slates don't make em different or better players.
It's the big problem with long contracts, very hard to get shut..

I agree. There's positive in long contracts and negatives when it doesn't go well. It will be interesting to assess in 2 years time what net effect we've had from 4 year contracts. Have we gained more in transfer fees that are in excess of the additional time we've had to pay wages or had to write off the fee paid? I'd hope so, but I'm not sure it will have from the infamous most successful window ever.

Some players may click with a certain coach. Or suit a different formation. Or maturity or confidence makes them look at themselves and apply themselves better. Or a style change gives them better opportunity to play to their strengths.

I'm sure the coach will be able to evaluate what he needs and try and make the best out of the squad. If that means we have to offload some players, then thats just the way it is. Hopefully we can do so in a way thats not financially detrimental.

We are heavy with forwards. 5 aren't championship standard.

Miller must be up there with the oddest signing I've ever seen. Along with Aitchinson

But the 5 sub ruled has now changed.

We wont be changing 3 forwards for 3 forwards after 60 minutes this coming season

We are top heavy with striker numbers but not championship striker quality.

Has the 5 sub rule officially been changed now? I hadn't seen it confirmed.

I agree about the number of forwards, and seems our latest position to be obsessed with recruiting wise. But we also need to give this coach time to assess and decide which players have the attributes to play the way he wants. It may be Victor is more suited than say Chaplin. We don't know yet.

Thought it was only brought in due to the covid situation and the short close season and player fitness levels.

You could well be right, that it may have been time specific. I've quickly searched and see the DFL have extended it for 21/22 but couldn't see anything for EFL. You'd think there would be some announcement just a few weeks from seasons start.

With the world cup coming up in Qatar, they ought to keep it.

No statement as yet from EFL but IFAB (International Football Association Board)
have sanctioned it until 31.12.22 so its in EFL etc powers to have 5 if they want it.

Agree. I think it's actually a positive thing. It gives players more involvement around the first team squad as well as the more obvious issues around fitness.

I think it benefits squads from 2nd tier upwards but may be tougher on smaller squads with less depth to them.

I'd like it to stay for good from our perspective though as it suits our pressing game.
