    Copse is 1st corner in the lap.

    And as it wasnt at the 1st corner of the race ,then it was not the 1st lap.

    Dunno why folk think it was lap 1

    Eh??? It was during the first lap of the race. Copse is turn 9, not sure why you think it is the first corner when there's 8 before it.

    We then had safety car after that til lap 3 then it was red flagged.

    Quite possibly it wasn't his idea Loko but was done in his name. For me it just speaks to the way celebrities are sometimes divorced from reality.

    It used to be turn one as the original pit complex I think, pre the investment in Silverstone resulting in the new pits at the other side of th circuit was on the straight after Woodcote corner. Hence LDdC's confusion

    Videod the race as clashed with the golf and cricket so only watched it later last night so coming late to this topic.
    There is some interesting twaddle in this thread. For what its worth Lewis was probably more at fault than Max but its more 60/40 than 100% Lewis v angelic Max as some would see it.

    Arguably Max should have given the place to Lewis anyway as he left the track to keep in front a couple of corners earlier.

    Lots of overtakes in Formula 1 rely on the overtaken car not sticking rigidly to the racing line and this one was no exception. Verstappen shut the door on Lewis when he was alongside - had he kept a slightly wider line there wouldn't have been contact - and he would also have lost the place - like Lewis had already done earlier in the lap when ahead going into corners he left room for Max and finished up behind again - he could have easily stuck to his line and forced the collision but he would have been the one almost certainly spinning out but with the moral high ground.

    As an aside to those with Red bull sympathisers who stated that you cant pass at that corner so the move was never on, remind me how he passed LeClerc - with no drama this time.

    Correct, so ultimately he should take the blame and the one held accountable, I just thought your tone directed 100% of that at him when we both know that there's no way he can be completely in control of all his affairs as a Formula One driver, and often the management behind the scenes make the decisions and provide the advice on those kind of scenarios.

    Yerbut the Max/RB lovers argue that both Norris and LeClerc kept out of the way of "reckless and dangerous" Hamilton who took both of them at Copse using the same line. They also stated that Bottas was ordered to give a place up which was a given since his older tyres were shot and conveniently overlooking the fact that Hamilton was on a charge and lapping one to two seconds faster than them all. MV is the golden boy though and much of the media leap to his defence. He is no doubt fast and talented but he is still reckless and headstrong both traits I thought he was getting over. In fairness he reminds me of the impetuous and reckless Hamilton when he was younger. Hamilton has racecraft that MV has yet to acquire IMO. Future multiple WDC possibly/probably this year being first time. However he will need to watch out for both Norris and Russell who drive with maturity beyond their years.

    the higher the calibre of the racers, the tighter the margins. At 180mph, half an inch one way,,, a high speed off........half an inch the other way,,, the pass of the century!!
