OFFICIAL: The EFL have confirmed that it will go back to three subs rule (from a seven-strong bench) for 2021-22, across the Championship, L1, L2, play-offs, Carabao Cup and Papa John's Trophy.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/efl-temporary-covid-rule-scrapped-24574101 Good news. Clubs can trim squads to spend less and three is more than enough.
Tougher to keep a bigger su#quad all happy with this. Looking at our strikers we might have to move one or two on
Even more reason to get the key positions sorted too. If we don't sign a replacement for Mowatt can Styles and Palmer do the job for the majority of the season?
Plus Kane (and Ritzmaier if Schopp fancies him there) But agree we could do with 1 more in there potentially
players on the pitch for longer, more risk of injuries. Clubs might need more players. Tough call, and I'm sure it's something all clubs analyse to get to their squad size
Quality over quantity and keep the right younger players to plug the gaps. I'd get rid of a few more yet.
I agree, we've more than enough fringe players. On the flip side, what if we're really unlucky with injuries and lose Helik, Styles and Woodrow for a prolonged period. We've already lost Mads "for a few weeks".
Hardest thing in football is trying to move on squad players you don't want that are under contract. If you don't want em why would anyone else take em
That's why you've got to be careful when signing Miller's. Ask yourself is he going to play every week or contribute. If the answer's no then put the cheque book back in the drawer.
