Perhaps that makes sense in some extent, some people will be doing home tests 2 and 3 times a week, then if they get a positve on that maybe the whole house going for PCR tests.

There is zero chance of 50% of the UK population reading & observing written instructions.

I've heard even being stuck in traffic with someone to the left, or right will trigger it.

This is probably bullox, but I suspect there may be some truth.

i would have thought that pushed the bounds of legality but have heard it in a few workplaces.

Is your place unionised? Has your union H&S guy run a workplace risk assessment? Have you seen it!? Interesting times legally. I suspect many cases will be hitting the courts against businesses circumventing legislation that could contribute to things like the impact of long Covid and in some cases death. Still as always the lawyers make a killing both literally and figuratively.

Yes to the union, no idea to the rest. Again in fairness they have been great with people and made every effort to meet the ever changing nonsense rules.

‘…please be advised to turn it to pause whilst in school. We have checked with the Covid Operations Team and sought other necessary guidance in asking staff to do so’

I think prior to last week it’s because schools ran their own track and trace but that ended today and that message still came through this morning.

interesting. Wording is snakeoil there ‘be advised’

I’d be asking my union H&S rep to check that the ‘necessary guidance’ was agreed with them and if not request they do a Workplace Risk Assessment. If you are a union member and have access to a workplace H&S rep.

I am a union member and we do have a rep. I’m fairly certain it’s because everyone is timetabled to a room and conversations are had with everyone who tests positive about all their contacts in school. There’s no way that you wouldn’t be told if you’d had contact with someone as they’d be able to tell who everyone has been near at all times. The app is really for contact with strangers who wouldn’t know how to contact you to tell you they were near you and tested positive.
