Sweden would be a more like for like example based on economic and social comparisons. As opposed to Brazil.

Only 247 positive tests on their seven day rolling average and deaths haven’t hit double figures for nearly two months on that same average. When they had that spike some people couldn’t wait to throw their strategy out there as an example of it failing, but it hasn’t failed at all. When you consider all the other benefits you get from not shutting down.

How anyone can take "joy" from anything regarding this pandemic is beyond me.

Maybe a modicum of self restraint would serve you better, rather than mouthing off with your ill-judged and massively premature "I told you so" ********. Don't forget many of us on here have lost loved ones and businesses and jobs to this thing.

You don’t take any happiness from huge reductions in the number of people being ill? Really?

I’m not sure some posters understand the horrific impact these lockdowns have had on people. The excess deaths as a result of lockdown will be absolutely horrific.

Your yawping and cheering is distasteful and offensive.

Completely agree. I have a young lady working for me who is 8 months pregnant, hasn’t had the vaccine due to her pregnancy and is currently in hospital on oxygen and has COVID. Thankfully she is showing signs of improvement and the baby is ok, so forgive me if I think that those people who believe this pandemic would have been better handled without lockdowns are sadly misguided.

You don’t want me to be happy that less people are ill? That after 18 months we’ve finally done the right thing and as a result the health of the nation is hugely improved? Seriously?

Because the middle class ******* have been alright throughout this then it’s all good to most on here. They have their big houses and gardens and clearly don’t enjoy social interaction.

    So so sad.

I’d like you to say that to all the people that have struggled and in some cases killed themselves from the lack of social interaction.

But then again that won’t suit your agenda.

Well over the weekend I went to Tatton Flower Show , no one had a mask on it was rammed , went to a pub in Hale , rammed no masks , three deep at the bar , Restaurant we went in , no masks tables back to normal , went out in Rochdale Thursday , no masks anywhere , so it’s either just the places I’ve been to or you haven’t been out

    I'm sure everybody realises that.

Where we disagree is that you see that as a reason not to lockdown, whereas I believe that energy should have been put into ensuring the government provided more support to those that needed it the most. It didn't have to be this way.

How do you know that the apparent middle class ******* have been alright throughout this? Are you saying that only the working classes suffer? What a load of tosh, no matter which class people fall into, there will be people suffering. Just for the record, whilst I have a good job, a big house and garden, my wife has suffered terribly during this pandemic.

It was always going to be this way though. The government do not give a **** about working class people.

As I have said previously it was okay for people like me who could work from home for a year and have remained relatively unscathed, apart from crippling mental health issues. What about the poor young mother of three in a high rise in London who had to deal with this ***** for a year and a half?!

The I’m alright jack attitude of some this last year has been absolutely sickening. Mostly from neoliberals.

Wait am I reading this right?

You’re trying to say the fall in numbers is due to restrictions being relaxed 7 days ago and nothing to do with the increased number of people who are now fully vaccinated?

Just making sure I’m reading things right?

If you want to talk about the suffering during this pandemic then please give me a PM.

    Karl Marx was correct.

But you said that this did not affect the middle classes, you are wrong. Suicide affects all classes, whether during this pandemic or prior.

Saw something today that said 1/3 of children have been turned away without support for their mental health challenges over the last year.

There’s also huge worry out there that with all the social clubs and youth clubs closed for lockdown that 11 year olds have been lost to gangs, the streets, and everything else that might entail - like drugs and alcohol.
