Looks like he could be off to Ipswich. Did think we needed to sell a few of the attacking players due to the number we have there. Great workrate but not scored enough to warrant keeping IMO. Especially with Oduor doing well out on the right in pre season.

Great deal for all 3 parties.
I like is work ethic , however it will work much better for him in League 1.

Doug O’Kane hinted that he could leave along with Adeboyejo/Frieser. Wouldn’t be surprised if all three did go, considering we’re signing Oulare and want another forward on top of that.

I find Chaplin very frustrating. He's quick, he's got a great work ethic, he gets stuck in, and he gets into great positions in the box. 12/18 months ago, his finishing was exceptional, however that seems to have gone completely off the cliff. I don't recall him scoring a clean goal at all last season, the keeper appeared to get a touch on all of them. His link up play is improving, but for me, that's his biggest weakness. He over/under hits so many passes. He often rushes them too. There's often instances where he could take a touch and turn towards goal, and instead he plays a quick one touch pass, regularly inaccurately.

I do think he could be a good championship striker, in a front 2. But I do believe he's one of the players we need to improve on, if we're to continue to progress.

League 1 does seem a bit of a drop for him though. Its a good signing for Ipswich if true.

To me he seems very much a confidence player. The season before last when he hit double figures he got most of them in a one/two month period which if I remember rightly saw him win championship player of the month (the month he scored the hat trick vs QPR) Once the run ended and he went back to his usual self, snatching at chances etc.

Last season his goal output was far too low especially considering how many starts he got for us. He clearly is a very likable bloke and a real hard worker but if we want to stay in that top 10 mix we need better so selling is probably the best choice for all parties. He should do really well in L1 in the right set up. Just depends on how they plan on using him.

Seems a top bloke and always gives 100 percent however I’ve never seen this pace that people talk about and he gives the ball away too much for my liking.

I think Chaplin could be a Championship level striker if he played regularly, but if he's going to be featuring off of the bench like last season he might not get many goals.

I like him and would be sorry to see him go, but we do have too many strikers. It might be that we can actually get a fee for Chaplin, whereas Frieser and Victor... probably not

We should be looking onto offloading George Miller too

He made 31 starts in the league last season. I know Val took most if not all of the front 3 off at around 60 mins each week but he certainly got more starts than most last season. I do like him but just doesn't offer enough.

I’d be sorry to see him go. I think he was a bit unlucky last year and he’s too good for L1 even if he isn’t a regular starter for us.

I think you'd be surprised at the number of starts he made last season. He was a starter regularly until Dike and Morris signed iirc.

he's barely played to show off what he is capable of. Think he'll see his contract out with us.

I like Chaplin, he got his championship hat trick with us and I'm sure wherever he ends up he'll do well, can't fault his commitment and attitude.

Paid a million pound for him didn't we, will we get our money back.?.. Wonder if it's a swop for the young mid-fielder we've been linked with?

Great news. About time we sold a fringe player instead of loaning them out.

    Great player and person.

Got a lot of time for him - an honest and genuine guy.

He can do a job in the Championship, but for me, League 1 is where he’ll find his joy. He’ll score well into double figures in the right team/setup in L1.

Good luck to him if he goes, and thank you.

This is the right direction by the club too, we have to improve the overall squad quality each year. I expect a few others to go as well. And also if we are not playing with 3 up front, we don’t need 6 strikers.

Ipswich have made some very impressive signings over the summer break. Chaplin's concern, bearing in mind who else they have signed, would be whether he would be given a regular starting place.

Not enough goals for an attacking player with over 30 starts last season. I don't doubt that he always gives 100% and his commitment can't be faulted and he should go with the best wishes of everyone. But much like defenders are judged mainly on keeping the ball out of the net, attacking players are judged mainly on putting the ball in to the net.

It makes me think we might end up with Downes as his replacement.
