We were the opposition on this one, they had a man sent off and we clawed it back to 4 all. I seem to remember Chris Lumbsden having a decent game and Tony Bedaue appearing for us!

Prosenecki stood on the half way line refusing to help defend towards the end, he was far too good for defending! :)

Best player I've seen play at Oakwell. Absolute magician

    Some player!

Hadn't realised a young Crouch was playing for them too!

I saw both games against Pompey that season. He was the best player I’ve ever seen against us. On both occasions. Only Bergkamp in the Prem season comes close for just how breathtakingly good he was to watch against us, twice.

He set a goal up for Crouch at Oakwell with just absolute elegant perfection. And then again for someone whose name I’ve forgot who drilled the pass in on the volley.

One of very few players to play for both Real and Barca. Must be one of the few to have represented two countries in the World Cup too. His goal against Holland in 98 earned Croatia third place. He was awesome for Yugoslavia at Italia 90 too.

    Reight laiker.

They stuck four past us at Oakwell too.

One of two opposition players I can remember to get a standing ovation by the Barnsley fans when subbed. The other was a young Wolves winger who ran himself ragged till subbed. His name escapes me.

I remember that season, didn't we go on a undefeated streak of about 15 matches & still got relegated, too many draws I think.

I think it was a 13 match unbeaten run, with about 10 of those as draws iirc.

Edit: 12 unbeaten in the league, 5 wins and 7 draws.

I was at that game. Cracking comeback. Kept my head down on Fratton Station after the game

He was outstanding at Oakwell, looked like he was playing a different game to everyone else. Apparently he used to have a couple of cigs at half time, proper cult hero at Pompey.

Was at this one, great weekend away on the ale. Two of our group walked out, was it 4 -2 at one stage? I remember giving them stick all night.

Signed for Pompey 20 years ago this week and we still get mentioned as he wasn't happy with his team mates for not wining the match after he got three.....

Interesting that Carl Tiler wasn't happy with him. I don't think many Football players in this day and age would get away with having a cig at half time in the dressing room.

Remember that 4 1 hammering at home. Who scored that volley for them? They were immense. Friday neet a think
