There’s no room for 5 different games. 50:50 is my favourite form and it’s just not happening this year because of the 100. Decisions will have to be taken about the future shape of the game. Regularly Yorkshire county matches happen in a largely empty ground and people don’t have 4 days, unless they’re retired.
It's a point of view no doubt. They must be trying to attract a younger audience, which looking on they are. As for disrespecting tradition, I've watched and loved test cricket for 50 odd years. It could smarten it's act up like over rates, legside wides etc. Maybe a few newcomers might tune in or attend. Or we could still have players v gentlemen, uncovered pitches, Geoff boycott taking 2 days to make 70 not out, Sunday a rest day, and WG grace refusing to be out cos he reckoned the crowd only turned up to watch him bata
The standard of our domestic 50 over competition has been pretty poor for a while now imo, players will get more out of playing this comp than the RL cup. I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would, and I think it will be good for the careers of the likes of brook who are in the fringes of the England team.
asking the players to slog for 6 weeks then play the best one of the best test teams is a recipe for disaster really
It's rubbish. The women have tiny boundaries and poor fielding with lots of dropped catches and mistakes costing runs (not cutting boundaries off). Earlier someone got a run out from dropping a catch that's how bad it is. The men's game is missing top talent from abroad who aren't here and the England stars are even gone now.
I’m sure it didn’t cause it, but it may have been a symptom of what’s happening to him. He’s had it hard with losing his dad and trying to keep up incredibly high standards. It’s all contributing to his general feeling of well-being, or otherwise. Straws and camel’s backs. He’s an amazing player and hope he takes a good rest and comes back when he’s ready.
But if it wasn’t the hundred, they’d be going into the tests off the back of the t20 competition anyway. The issue of the white ball game affecting players’ red ball technique isn’t a new one.
