He’d be less exposed defensively at left wing-back, but he’s not good enough going forward to play that position.
All of them. Woodrow and Morris up front, Cole and Iseka on the wings, Frieser leading the 'low press' at centre half, Oulare in goal.
Was said to be a centre half or a left back when he signed: https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2021/january/liam-kitching-signs/
Going from Alex Mowatt to Callum Styles does not seem like progression either , however the thread asked the question about bringing in a left back , my own thoughts are that Ben Williams has had so many injuries that he is still developing & could with a good run turn out to be half decent , we will see.
Disagree, Styles could very very easily turn out to be a much better player than Mowatt - no disrespect to Mowatt. Styles needs to be playing CM this season, not only for the team but for maximum value for when he invariably gets sold
I do not disagree with you , I was replying to another comment & in a way you have echoed what I have said, I believe Williams might improve & do well if he gets a run of games , the same with Styles, he has the potential excel in the midfield but currently he has little or no experience there at this level & is expected to replace one of the best midfielders in the championship , its not easy for either Williams or Styles.
Curve ball opinion from me and very much against our current policy but what about former Burnley and Republic of Ireland left winger/left back Robbie Brady. Free agent and only 29 years of age.
Wouldn't be a bad pick up as I'm sure he'd be an excellent LWB in the championship but I reckon he will stay in the premier league as back up LM/LB for a club in the bottom half like a Newcastle etc.
