Mowatt seems to have a better set piece n' be a yard quicker at WBA. We've lost a player at the peak of his powers n' replaced him with someone who if we're being honest no one's f cu king heard of. (Nothing against Benson).
Wish our fans would be that noisy. Hopefully will be tomorrow. Mowatt already an assist. Hard to judge the first game with these 2 teams. Both favourites to be up there so we won't know how really good they until they play us or preston etc
I do not know who got the man of the match but I thought Mowatt was the best player on the park , an excellent debut & no doubt the West Brom fans will be well chuffed with what they have seen . I do not get this negativity towards him , gave his all for us & left the club after seeing his contract out in a thoroughly professional manner
Unfortunately he had no intention of staying' Benson could be a real find ya never know' wouldn't be the first time...
I'm looking forward to watching all our young midfielders this season. I accept that it appears to be de rigueur on here to attack the new Head Coach, the new players and the players who stayed. But I've never been a follower of fashion or found populism attractive in any way.
What's happened to the extra 3.8 million the club made last season. Turnover 14 million for the laymen's. Wage bill including the kitman 9.8 million. Half of Barnsley know you're a massive club man. But ffs see Mowatt leaving for Benson for what it is.
de rigueur may be wrong my friend. I think most (right minded) fans realise that we *start* the season weakened - but that we have a season bursting with potential. I genuinely believe that we're starting a positive (albeit new) journey and that in a year we've cracked it.
Mowatt on 20k a week (may well be on more at WBA) on a 3 year deal is just north of 3million. Do you think we can risk that on 1 player? Especially when it would then no doubt lead to likes of Woodrow and Helik pushing for more Mowatt was always moving on to bigger things. Such is the food chain in the football world unfortunately (see Grealish to City as a prime example)
