    As mentioned the other day on here - looks to be signing for Southampton for a deal worth upto £20m.

    Think I’ve seen it as £16m plus add-ons. Newcastle still have an sell-on, hence probably the inflated figure.

    Either way, that’s mental money…..yeah, he’s developed since leaving us, but £20m?!?!

    Michael owen wa small and really fast, how much would he be worth in todays money,if he gets the service could end up being peanuts in the greed league.

    About the going rate for a good championship striker. Bagged a tonne of goals of all different types last season for a poor to middling side, still youngish, seems about right - but yes, it is an obscene amount of money objectively.

    I thought it was £12m and then some add ons depending on success. I like Armstrong but still it seems like a hugely inflated price tag.

    Watkins hadn't played PL, and he went for even more.

    Blackburn have done very well if they get a guaranteed 15m+ for him, given he's in the last year of his contract. Not sure he's the answer to Southampton needing to replace Ings.
