I thought Victor would have worked on his ball control tbh . If he had then obviously he can’t do it he’s better at running the channels than balls fired into him but his finishing is woeful , tooo many chances needed per goal . For his own good he needs a move possibly a league two club to get his confidence up . Clarke Needs roughing up when the going gets tough and again needs practice on hos finishing . Jury’s still out on George imo , he’s still a young player and hadn’t developed yet IMO and club must see something in him in training etc . Give him another season possibly in u23s mostly .
Sorry mate but I read "plays too many minutes........." as being an observation of his 'regular' contribution. Which he clearly hasn't had. Far from the finished article but I thought he did OK last night given his write-off of a season last time round. Worth a start Saturday (IMHO) and I will gladly re-evaluate after seeing what he can do in that position against Championship opposition.
I just can’t see how Adeboyejo or Miller fit in. At right back / right wing back Miller’s never going to get a look in over Brittain or Williams. Up top we’ve 3 new lads, Morris, Woodrow & Frieser all likely to be ahead of them in my opinion. I’m convinced we only gave Adeboyejo an extension to hopefully get a transfer fee for him & I can’t see who’s likely to pay a fee for Miller. Our hope has to be that he can have a good loan spell & we can then move him on. I don’t think Ben Williams is good enough to be a starter in the championship. Squad player maybe but I’m not convinced. Oduor has some ability about him but he needs to nail down a position & get some games. I’d be amazed if they came in a front 3 with the options we now have. If he’s not looking at the left wing back spot & begging the manager to play him there every week then there’s something wrong with his attitude. We all want to be forwards or attacking midfielders but that’s not realistic for Oduor in my opinion.
Ben Williams has shown a huge amount of potential and put in some great performances in the past. He just needs to find consistency. He's also just back from a serious injury and deserves to be given time. Lad plays like the shirt means everything to him. He may or may not make it, but I don't think it's fair to bunch him with the other 3.
Please can we give the manager (and the squad) a little latitude and judge them in a little while when they’ve had a chance to gel. Can just imagine Big Lil sat in a darkened room shaking his head at this thread.
I’m the same as you, but I was bitterly disappointed in the quality of crosses into the box considering that opportunities to cross were so many..... way more than we’d have in a typical championship game.
Think this forum is in need of a break from me for a while. Just been revisiting some of my threads and posts and ive been spouting some right ******. Re-set the brain time methinks.
To be honest ( and i may be in a minority of one) but i'm not sold on Sibbick at all' just seems to run alongside his man and doesn't win many aerial battles' i do think that Kitching could be a find though i think Kitching Mads and Helik could be a force to be reckoned with this season..
If we are to progress as a club we need to get rid of the deadwood. Adeboyejo, Miller, Odour are all clearly some way off the quality needed to compete in this league. Ben Williams I’m not writing off just yet, always been a fan of his no nonsense approach! I would also argue Frieser isn’t good enough, but probably okay as back up. Hopefully the new pair of strikers can get up to speed pretty sharpish as clearly we’re struggling in the scoring department.
There is a lot of nonsense on here so sorry to single you out Sam. But you clearly didn't watch last nights game if you think Odour is a long way off the quality needed. He is learning a new position, so the runs he made at times were poor or he simply didn't make a run. However his dribbling, touch and link play were excellent. One run he slalomed past 3, another he nutmegged 2 one after the other. He completed 3 dribbles out of 5. Made 4 key passes into the box and his pass accuracy was 33/38 or 87% which is phenomenal for a forward. Shocked he didn't get a game in the front 3 last year behind the likes of Frieser, Victor and Chaplin.
If we just go on starts thats 12 goals plus a season,i ant seen much on him, could he be tried as a centre back? Warhurst for fowls was a defender, tried him as striker and he scored loads.anybody think he could make a defender, were trying it with miller.
Well he’s not pulled up any trees in his natural position at left back, plus we already have plenty of cover in his new position. Do we really need to be wasting money hoping he “learns” this new position? The fact that the 3 previous managers didn’t rate him speaks volumes.
I bet most people can’t even remember that game I know I can’t. I thought we gave Walsall a good hiding every time we played them that season. Just don’t think he’s technically up to the level of the other full backs at the club, his crossing wasn’t anywhere near the standard of Brittain & not as good as J. Williams either. He got caught out positionally a fair bit. He might improve but I don’t see how anyone can say with any confidence he’s a championship ready player right now. He’ll have to show more than been a grafter even though he’s pretty likeable because of it.
