This pretty much sums it up. Coventry will feel robbed. Apart from odd flashes, I thought we were poor, in particular Woodrow. I'd really hoped he might step up this season, esp. now he's captain, but he seems to have stood still. Often literally!!! Needs to stop falling over looking for cheap free kicks and start looking for space.

Thought we were poor over all and fortunate to get the win.. over ran our mid-field, our 4 vs Cov's 5. Thought Schopp should address that when Morris went off.. Created sweet fa up front, apart from Palmers through ball .. which was a beauty... nearly all game.
But we did battled... which was good to see and no way on this earth should we have had 8 bookings..

The amount of times I’ve seen a better Barnsley side lose to Coventry over the years, I think we were well overdue a bit of revenge! :)

Very lucky win fo me but I couldn’t care less. Need to improve defensively on the wings. Williams and Brittain were exposed time and again today. We need either a New LWB or Styles playing there. Ben Williams looked horribly out of his depth.

    Collins, Helik, Kitching, Palmer excellent
Everybody else put in top effort.
Lots more to come from this side, if we can pick up points early in the season when we hit our best the rest of the league can get ready.

Agreed.. we're nowhere near yet, but do have 4 points on the board. So sooner win ugly than play pretty and lose.

I am stunned with your comments about Woodrow ,who worked his nuts off especially when Morris went off , got back & helped out when we were under pressure & even headed off the line to save a goal , he got little or no support from Odour & had no service but wore the arm band with pride & grafted for the team, a good captains performance.

At Woodrow.....but loads effort in.......personally think Styles off boil at minute in midfield......maybe too much expectation from him

I thought a draw would have been a fair result but ill take the win. They hit the bar 1st half and looked very good on the counter before we scored we looked vunrable when we changed to a back 4.

Coventry were good on the ball but not very off the ball. Got away with murder and that's me taking my red specs off. We need a couple of players too. The subs didn't make sense to me but hes the gaffer I'll giving him the benefit of doubt. We won. Any other time we might not of

I am not stunned because you have a different opinion , I am stunned that we can have such polar opposite opinions , why so sensitive , its a forum & I saw Woodrows performance totally opposite to yours , so what , I am not digging at you .

Based on the Refs performance in the second half how he didn’t book 8 Coventry players in the first half is a mystery

Nah. We bossed the entire game. They were dirty cheating ratbags. Defo weren’t a penalty. So justice done. Couple of forearm smashes went under the refs radar. One ball went int tunion bag. Easy peasy. :)
Result never in doubt. Tuthers on ere ent gorra clue. :)
    On a more serious note.

I thought Coventry deserved a point in fairness to them, but the positive for us is that I think we're a team (and management team) that is still gelling together and with players still to come into the first team, I'm optimistic we'll improve. 4 points from those 2 fixtures is a great return.

Referee lost the plot. Was discussing this with BigLil in the car park after the game. If a Barnsley player gets a yellow card in the second half for an identical offence to one commited by multiple Coventry players in the first half (most were on Palmer) then all offences should be a yellow card. Some of ours were petty but there were 2 or 3 in the first half that, by the refs second half standard, should have seen the Coventry players cautioned too. That said, I don't think there was a truly nasty tackle in the match, his card waving was for petty stuff that felt like we were more harshly treated for. I don't think there were more than 3 or 4 incidents that needed cards in the game.

Will play better and lose, we had some luck, took our key chance brilliantly.
