I hope not, simply because I do not think that Victor has had a good game when he has started but has been quite effective when coming off the bench .

    I’d go:-
    Collins
    Sibbick Helik Kitching
    Brittain Benson Palmer Styles
    Frieser Woodrow Cole

If Vic & Oduor are ahead of Cole & B Williams is our preferred LWB, instead of shifting Styles back out there with Benson in the middle with RP, then we’re screwed and really are in for a tough, long ole season

I’d go with that. But wary QPR will be the 5th game in 2 weeks..

I don't get the anti-Victor stuff. I have no doubt he has his limitations, but he offers more than Odour up front - I have no idea who though Odour is a forward.
At least with Victor he actually occupies defenders, can hold the ball up.
I'd prefer Styles to go back to the left to make room for Benson.
Hope Cole and/ or Oulare fit for bench.
Do we know if Kitching is fit? Looked to me like he was injured on Saturday.

Can understand the logic behind moving styles to left back. However, he was originally signed as a CM, Schopp wants to try him there and so did many Barnsley fans. With that in mind it seems a bit hasty to move him back to LWB after three games. None of which he has played particularly poorly in. For me I'd rather give J Williams a run in that position, as he was excellent playing in the left before his injury last season and continue to see if styles can develop into the centre mid many people thought he could be.

Spot on! So many times last season we got in good positions around the opponent box only for it to bounce of Victor. He's not a kid anymore at 23(?). He's the age where he should be playing regularly at his level, which isn't the championship.

I think the problem is that Benson really has to start & Palmer plus Styles have to fit in the team , therefore the logical solution is to switch Styles to WB where he has proved to be very competent , I think that one of the Williams twins on the bench is an option to cover the need to push Styles into midfield during the game should this be required .

Yes can see the logic, but for me if we want styles to play CM in the long term he has to have a run of games there. I like the look of Benson, but I don't think he's a must start just yet. I'd be happy to see a team with styles playing LWB and Benson in middle, however, if the plan is to have styles in CM then I would like to see us persevere with playing him there and perhaps get someone else in to offer more quality on the left.

None of us know the attitude or player agreements though.

-The club may have agreed with Styles to play centre, in order to keep him.

-Cole may be sulking after penalty miss.

-Odour may have worked his socks off during training for weeks to force his way in.

-The Belgian lads might be fit, but not Champ Standard fit.

There’s always more reasons for team selection than first seen/publicised.

Odour is one of the most skilful players in the squad. The squad admits that themselves. What he lacks, is game time and sometimes urgency, which come hand-in-hand. I can see why you’d play him as a striker - tricky to play against. Some teams he will nightmare to play against, some (like against Cov), he won’t be as effective. But that’s the same for any striker.

It really does. He's like a trampoline.

It's funny, at half time on Saturday, someone was putting balls up in air for Vic to trap as they came down and he was almost perfect every time. Like a magnet. Sort of shows the difference between in-game ability and casual (non-pressure?) ability.

I didn't envy any of our forwards last season, and playing a target man isn't an easy job at all. I like Victor and hope he manages to get a cameo or two at least. I'm not sure he'll make it at Championship level, but I'd really like him to.

I'd hope the other 2 new strikers we signed are ahead or on a similar level to cole. And agree about ben Williams he reminds me of George smith

I agree. I'd love to see him come good.

But as others have pointed out, he's not 19 anymore and he's had 50+ games, and it doesn't look likely. Would love to be wrong.

Biggest mistake Val made was starting Vic against Swansea in 2nd leg.

I think there's some truth in some of those, I'm sure styles will be wanting to play center mid. The Belgium strikers schlopp has said they aren't fit enough to play the football he wants from them. Hope Cole starts tonight with freiser and woodrow.

I'm not sure any line up we had would have beaten Swansea given the style of play. A lot of his game time has been very limited though. There's some quality in there though, his goals last season showed good technique. His hold up play is where he needs work. He's probably not dissimilar to Dike in that respect.

Dike scored 9 league goals in half a season.

Vic has scored 6 in almost 100 apps.

I did specifically say hold up play.
