Breaking news: Country fully understands how to use lockdowns effectively. I mean sure they could try the British model of letting the virus run rampant for a month or so before trying a lockdown. Or the Texas/Florida model of actively outlawing all restrictions then falsifying the stats. But I think I'd stick with the strategy that's brought them pretty much zero deaths and minimal time under strict restrictions compared to other countries.
Hi Redstone. I have a brother who lives in NZ and is a retired GP,so we talk about it a bit. There doesn't seem to be much fear but a realisation that they are vulnerable. The Indian and Delta variants are the ones they and Australia have been getting, mainly due to visitors from Europe. They don't have much control over the vaccines roll out, just have priority groups but they took the decision straight away not to have any manufactured in India. There is a lot of dissatisfaction in Asia Pacific countries with drugs made in India. The need for people around the world to be vaccinated, is what will stop the spread of this virus, which seems obvious and simple but has dropped down the major nations priorities. Hopefully when the Pandemic has run it's course, possibly in 2024,the analysis and evaluation will help with developing Public health programmes worldwide. As a retired nurse, it is interesting seeing how the virus is affecting our population. It doesn't seem to follow a linear pattern,we have developed a new term "Long Covid ". Which encompasses many respiratory conditions as well as mobility and fatigue difficulties. From all of this,we will over time, discover new methods and techniques to improve the general health of people. It is a terrible way to learn though, individuals and families suffering such pain and loss.
