Totally agree with the patience theme. We were poor first half last night I thought - in fact we looked weak on paper and on the pitch. Happy to go in just one down. Second half they sat back and we came into it and I started to enjoy some of the football. Mind you, we still didn't look all that likely to score. I take nothing for granted being a Barnsley fan. Lost a key player in Alex. New manager and time to get back to playing more constructive football. Time to cut the guys some slack and hope the results come good. But it might take a while. For the record both Callums were very good and I liked the look of Benson.
It is early days yes and I am sure we will improve......but I am not having it that both Callum’s were good last night.....both haven’t reached the heights of last season yet.....but let’s give them time!
I’ve found the last two performances a little frustrating. We could have easily taken a chance or two last night and reactions would have been completely different. The glimpses of style of play we can expect are very encouraging but at present we don’t have the players to mix it up enough. Last season’s style was never going to work again this season and probably doesn’t develop players in the right way. A lot to look forward to in my opinion.
it was almost instantaneous- we were awesome in Wilson’s first season I am deeply concerned with what I have seen so far. I think the management and players look totally disconnected
Frustrations come from poor communication. I would appreciate comments on the obvious ie What is schopp way of playing Why does he think Oduor is a forward Why drastically changing formation mid game is a good idea when we can see it isn't. How can new players if not injured be so unfit Injury update I'm sure more patience will be shown if we understand more.
You've hit the nail on the head. I don't come across well after defeats or abject performances but would come across better if I understood. Val's interview after Chelsea game last season gave me a clear vision and understanding of what he was trying to achieve.
Only the loss of Dike, Mowatt and Val will have any effect on the performances so far, the rest are easily replaceable - so trying to make out the assets have been stripped again is pushing it a bit far. Only Val was under contract. Compared to previous starts at this level, this season isn't actually a bad start for us.
You were slagging Schopp off before a ball was kicked though, weren't you? We're less than a fortnight into the season.
I thought we played better at the start of last season and thought we were onto something even before Val took charge. There were some impressive performances under Murray. This season it's been wishy washy. Just like it was under later day Struber and later day Spackman.
Not at all. I welcome constructive, well thought opinions that are opposed to mine, that’s how we progress but mindless personal insults against players and staff just because we lost a game is quite simply ridiculous, puerile and well worth pouring scorn over.
