Yeah Pearce at Forest, Southgate at Crystal Palace, John Wark at Ipswich and David Unsworth at Everton.

Thought Luton did their homework on Woodrow, anytime he was anywhere goal they didn’t let him turn and shoot , which he likes to do . Criticising his effort is looney , what was missing on Tuesday was an urgency and intensity from the whole team , plenty of effort from the forwards but constantly having to check runs because the midfield and wings wanted yet another turn or touch before getting it forward must be frustrating for them

Southgate had only ever taken one penalty before Euro 96. And missed.

I detect no lack of effort from Woodrow. He had to run his blood to water for Val last season.

Challenging for and holding the ball up is not his forte, but the way he's trying to do it is detrimental to our team.

Then again we shouldn't be expecting him to be a traditional centre forward.

The thing is he isn't even trying to do it that's the problem. If the ball is in the air he stands still and watches making no attempt. If it's on the deck he either launches himself to the floor and lifts both arms up to the referee or he pushes their player over. It's the same each and every time he's near a man and it's really costing us

My take on CW is that his goal to game ratio is excellent. He's been played out of position a hell of a lot over his BFC career. But still scored (Ps I'll not mention penalties although while we're on the subject I wish Southgate would have brought him on in the final. We'd be winners).

CWs game should be playing in the triangle between the corners of the 6 yarder to top side of the D and rely on been provided with quality service. Unfortunately that very rarely happens.

I'd love a 'Hellik doesn't beat many wingers and get down the flank to provide a cross' thread. Or an 'Odour is lacking in that midfield enforcer role'.

Play to players strengths and you'll usually find it makes for a better more coherent side.

To be fair, penalties are so easy to take.

I still can't believe we drew 1-1 with Coventry on Saturday. I mean, it was so easy for their bloke to score that penalty.

    We need that first win.

However if helik was played as a winger for 18 months wouldn't it be a valid comment to ask how long we have to put up with it? Just like there's been criticism of odours effectiveness as a right sides striker

It certainly would. But who do you question? The player who's been played out of position in an 'uncommon, unnatural, ineffctive role' , or the person who decides thats the best way to play?

I would question the person who made the decision for the players ineffectiveness but I'd also question the player for his refusal to do what is asked to the best of his ability.

Woodrow's goal against Swansea was an example of how he needs to be used. Granted he was running from quite deep, but he needs to be facing the goal moving into space and getting first time shots in.

We''ll have to disagree about CW I suppose.

On a slight aside though. Maybe the continual looking for fouls that he's been accused of on this thread might be an instruction he's been given. So maybe he's playing the role to a tee.

    Suppose well never know?!?
