I think its going to get down into who knew, who didn't know, when did they know or not know, who told who and when and we obviously aren't going to get to that. We don't know when they've been training at the club. So I could envisage if they were (given Oulare gave the presser pre Cardiff) and then some key person at the Well was informed permits weren't cleared to then ask them to remain away and maintain fitness. I think I've got to the point where it's just a bit of an obtuse mess and we're unlikely to get clarity of information on it. It will be brushed under the carpet and when they play they play.
My head scratching is only in relation to wondering what caused the delay. I'm not really in to the deep diving of conspiracy theorist type behaviour (not aimed at you) where everyone wants to dissect everything to the minute detail. They're Barnsley players. They'll play for Barnsley. And we'll likely see them feature in one of the next three games. It's all speculation, which is why I try not to get too emotionally involved (because does it really matter at the end of the day?), but maybe we kept thinking it was just 48 hours from being sorted? Maybe when Schopp said 'ask them' he was referring to the club sorting the paperwork and not aiming it at the players? I'm second guessing, which is the problem with most of these discussions I guess.
Ok I'll put it another way. If you're a manager and your employees fail to turn up every day would you ask why that is?
And I'll ask a similar question. How do we know Schopp hasn't asked why? Confused on where you're trying to take this one but it's built on flawed assumptions right now.
I'm just confused how the manager of the team can have his employees not turn up, not train with him, not be there at all and his conclusion is 'they aren't match fit'.
The inherent problem with it is the club could have easily said they weren't available because of permit issues. Whether thats 48 hours or 4-8 weeks, its irrelevant really. They could have posted a tweet. Given a radio interview update to take some of the weight off the new Head Coach who may not be used to media like ours, or questions that they may pose. He could have been fed a line to simply say there were permit issues and that would have taken away so much speculation and ill sentiment, for both him and the players. All of that would be completely sensible and logical. And all so simple to do. Just a pity really, it didn't have to be the way it panned out.
I am chilled. I posted the exact same comment the other day. Joint best defence in the league as well, in case you missed it. Not sure what league position has to do with administrative and communicative efforts or lack of mind you, but thanks anyway.
But if they’re not training then surely saying ‘they’re not match fit’ is factually correct? At the same time as thinking it’s red tape keeping them away that will be sorted any day now.
To you maybe who’s trying to suggest there’s an agenda or a reason to be misleading. If this red tape delay wasn’t expected it could easily be Schopp expecting them at training again any day and stating the obvious - they’re not match fit. Nothing gained from trying to ‘out’ our new Head Coach. It’s ok to take a day off every now and again.
the inference was it was down to the players not being fit from the Schopp quotes, there was absolutely no mention of them training elsewhere or visa issues. More than economical with the truth imo.
This is what Doug O'Kane reported 'Barnsley strikers Obbi Oulare and Aaron Leya Iseka's debuts are being delayed by VISA issues, although the Belgian duo are also not yet fully fit. They are both training away from the Reds squad as they wait for the final paperwork' Its feasible if they are training away from the squad then Schopp won't have a clear view on their match fitness.
They either can't play because they're unfit, or because they're not eligible to play. Or maybe they are both ineligible and unfit. Not hard to tell the truth about that, is it? When they parade them on the website and send us gleeful pictures of them, we ought to be able to think that they might actually kick a ball for us. But no. They can't, and it can't be cos they're unfit. It might however be because they're taking a long time to understand our new formation and tactics. Let's face it - all the fans and the rest of the squad are too.
Correct but it's like sneakily going on holiday to Spain and when someone calls your wife to ask why you're not at work her saying it's because he had the shits last night'. That may be a true statement but it's not the truth
But they’re not fit. International clearance could come on Monday and it’s unlikely they’d make the squad for Birmingham. Economical with the truth? Possibly, if you’re going looking for it. Factually correct? 100% A bit of a reach? Not at all Schopp was expecting them at training again any day. So speaking about availability for the next game it’s down to fitness.
