Not sure if this has been mentioned previously but watching on tv I was conscious of the noise and backing for their team even at 2 nil down. There’s a lot of ****** talked about the crowd being the 12th man but it felt like they drove their team on to that recovery yesterday. Can you think of a game at Oakwell where the fans provided similar inspiration?
Just off the top of my head from the last season fans were in. Derby to get a late point, west brom to get a late point, Bristol city to get a late point. In general though, the atmosphere at oakwell is **** and has been for years.
Yes, there always seems to be an air of resignation when we’re losing at halftime. I thought their fans were fantastic.
I thought this. When the half time whistle went, I was expecting an almighty "BOOOOOO" but it was really quite muted, which is great. Reflected well on QPR fans imo. Had it been at Oakwell (and the HT score reversed), folk'd have been going spare with boos and whistles.
I wonder if that was because they'd started the season so well and come back from behind to win last match?
Strange because before their goal I didn’t get that impression, the commentators mentioned how they were quieter than usual as well. Could hear ours practically all through the game
QPR fans seemed to get fired up when Styles booted their player up the air to stop a breakaway. Seemed to make them a tad cross ha ha, but it got them behind the team and helped them get a point I thought
Nah, slipshod defending, an offside decision that went against us, and not killing the game off at 2-0, then right at the end when Sibbick failed to find unmarked an Cole with a crucial pass after a tremendous run out from defence, we’re the things that contributed to them getting a point.
Cole was in the only place sibbick couldn't pass to him. If he held his run on the edge of the 18 yard box, the defender wouldn't have been in-between him and the pass would have been on.
2-2 against Newcastle at home in December 2009. Bobby ran his blood to water that game. The crowd was electric as we came from behind twice to earn a point against top of the league.
There was about me. If it had been 0-3 I'd have been relaxed. 0-2 is a flakey score-line. As it proved.
I can't agree. I'f he'd held his run even for a milli-second at that speed, the other defender would have caught him or at least got a tackle in, if you watch it back.
If I was a TV producer I would mute the microphones near the away fans chanting Sky TV is **** and turn up the ones near the home fans to give the game atmosphere
