You can see why he's liked by the DePfeffel populist party! Sounds a jolly good jape (ahem) does that!
I was in 2 minds about whether to post the below thread but after you posted the above I thought I probably should it made me laugh anyway
He obviously knows a lot about trade deals. He thought Brexit was a good idea. Look how successful that’s proving!
I thought he had bad feet he keeps coming on the adverts saying he's got bad feet and trying to sell the machine he uses to the public wonder if he'll be trying to sell the machines to the Australians.
I thought there was something fishy about Botham being the trade ambassador to Australia because let's face it as good a cricketer as he was I would say he knows nothing about trade as we have been told it takes years of experience, so having looked into this it becomes clear, he was an ardent brexiteer and a supporter of the Tories he also owns a Vinyard in Australia of which he bottles and sells wine, he transports to Australia on a regular basis of which will now become free travle, these people do look after their own.
Another theory is that this is the latest "news" to move attention from the failure of Raab at Foreign Secretary. People are now talking about this (fairly insignificant) appointment, rather than the complete failure of government leadership over Afghanistan....
Rambotham - I think the Sun once tried to make out he was going to become a film star after his Ashes exploits.
It turns out that not only were Raab and Johnson on holiday (PM and deputy PM which should NEVER happen), the cabinet office recalled Raab but Johnson overruled them. Also Lord Tariq Ahmad the minister directly responsible for Afghanistan was also on holiday.
He can redeem himself in my eyes if he imports dry roasted peanuts and pickled onion Monster Munch. That better be his priority.
Apparently, beefy has a huge vineyard in Australia which is bound to benefit from tariff-less trade, so no personal financial interest then....
