Don’t get me wrong he was a tidy player but in my mind we had scored a 20 a season goalscoring genius.
I remember conor hourihane getting booed by a lot of the crowd as danny wilson subbed him off to take some heat off him. Glad he was made of strong stuff and cane out a winner. Never forget that free kick v leeds that he signed off with.
I lvd rambo wat i dont get is woodrow gets crap off some of our fans and hes scored more goals, how does that work.
Brilliant on loan from Derby I think, always injured after we signed him. I saw him in a 3-2 win at Notts County and really looked a fantastic player bombing down the right and getting decent crosses in. I believe his nickname amongst the rest of the lads was "sick-note".
I think you can vouch for the fact that I am a relatively quiet fan. But I think you have probably overheard some of my ‘pearls of wisdom’, which I have shouted out to my son, about players, and got it wrong; On Conor Hourihane - “That lads nothing without James Bailey behind him to tidy up” On Matty James (first time) “Two stone overweight and useless” On Marley Watkins “That’s why we shouldn’t sign players from the Scottish league!!” (based on Kane Hemmings being useless and assuming Marley was after his first touch) On Devante Cole (first time) “Remember his name, son. That lad WILL play for England”. Now, I just keep my opinions to myself as I accept I am most often wrong.
i met him years later in a bookshop in London and had a big chat with him. Said he hated crowds and playing in front of them made him very stressed.
Ivan Toney. Never saw that in him. Adam Armstrong. Never saw that either! David Speedie. Donkey. So, so wrong.
For some reason, and I have no idea why, I got it into my head that grant McCann was going to be a world beater. Whilst he wasn't bad it's fair he didn't live up to the unreasonably high standards that I assumed he would.
Martin Bullock - when he scored a wonder goal against Leicester I thought he was going to be absolutely amazing and play for years at the highest level - I was wrong - then a year later I thought he'd never amount to much - I was wrong again and the sight of him putting Campbell on his arse remains one of my favourite Reds moments. And Jennings of course
David Wilkes Scored 2 on debut. Thought he would be a 30 goal a season man. Didn't score for next 16 games and subsequently released
Tony Cunningham, scored on his debut and I genuinely thought he'd be a club legend. I think the next time I saw him, I heard somebody in the crowd shout "Cunningham, tha like 14 stone o' black puddin". Fair summing up I thought at the time. Apologies for quoting something that today might be seen as racist.
McCord was OK the 1st seaaon after signing , think we alomst make the playoffs , after that he was utter stink!!!
Loved a Cruyff turn did Sav! Always remember his last minute winner at Bramall lane , on way home listening to radio Sheffield , you lad called in to Praise Sheff Utd , almost broke down on radio when the radio guy , I forget his name, told him they lost.
Gary Fleming was utter trash , then switch to sweeper was excellent. Unfortunate to lose place in the team when Wilson/Anderson arrived.
