It all seems very feasible https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...narrowing-gap-and-expect-regular-top-6-pushes
As long as we keep building gradually then can’t see any reason why not. Selling players left right and centre like in the past won’t help though, so as long as we’ve turned a corner in that respect then all is good!
That's exactly what's needed - high expectations. Remember when Keith Hill was here and he dampened expectations? After last season as well why not? It's the right message
Statements like that will probably make us a more attractive prospect for potential signings too, especially if we're knocking on the door come December...
I'm loving it. Setting high expectations and keeping the core players together to gain experience in this league is the way to go. It's very feasible that we can do it. There's no quick fix and I like that.
He didn't say this season - just regularly challenging for the top 6. Its the right target to be aiming for - sounds a lot better than aiming for 4th bottom. Whether we get there this season really depends on the new signings and its too soon to tell if we have signed players like Dike Morris and Helik or more like Ritzmaier and Christie Davies thats what will decide if we are challenging top 6 or treading water in mid table
Well said Paul. We need to get away from the small club mentality and stop blaming lack of success on our budget. We should expect to be challenging as fans if we have any ambition for our club.
Keith said "It's Barnsley not Barcelona." I also remember him describing managing us was like walking a tightrope with two broken legs and having your hands tied behind your back.
I was ironing a pair of jeans listening to 'Football Heaven: after the game and I almost burnt my ear cheering when it was announced. He lowered expectations like no manager ever although I absolutely loathed snooty Spackman. He was a proper BellEnd!
I think I've gone wrong somewhere. It never occurred to me that there might be women out there who did the ironing AND liked football. Oh well, too late now....
Every season we set out to reach the plays offs or auto promotion, some times we get there sometimes we don`t, been same all mi life.
We do pretty well when you consider what we are up against, big bucks clubs and cheating clubs ( who usually get away lightly).
Think Conway would have learned to see how something pans out rather than make a claim like this. Remember the best transfer window ever……
Thats true to be fair, think it was palmer last season gave a interview saying struber had the team thinking finishing above the drop was a achievement, val came in and had them believe they could achieve much better... morale of the story aim high.
Another good interview / comms piece by PC. I've said it before and I will say it again, because it's worth repeating, thank goodness we have the Owners we have and not a group of people like the other shiesters we see too often at other clubs. The plan is evolving and we're on course for further progression if thes guys stick around. I guess the only problem with PC talking so positively about further progression is that there are many who will castigate him for being too ambitious and opening his mouth too much. He can't win can he.
