I think you are being very harsh, Friesers goal should have stood & we would have been coming home with a deserved 3 points .
Yeah Cardiff missed a hat full, like most other teams we've played this season.. But it was the only game this season where we did finish the stronger.
There was nothing freaky about it,we played really well,if val was still here,we'd need morris fit,but we'd be working our socks off, with wat ive been reading we were shocking after first 8 mins,we had a plan last yr,you dont finish 5th in this league and not deserve it.
We did play really well and deserved what we achieved. It was also a season played in empty stadiums and we went on a unbelievable run of form. The confidence during that period wqs amazing. All I wws getting at was that we clearly over achieved agaisnt all realistic expectations.
Soz mate, didnt mean to sound like i was having a pop.realistically nobody would have expected us to finish 5th,but wen we won 6 or 7 on trot wat wa your expectations then?a wa thinkin top 2 is gonna be just to far away.but we had a plan, first get to 50pts,then play offs.
He is been judged on 1 win in 7 games thanks to a last minute penalty save and some mind numbing football in that time.
I've no strong feelings either way about him, because we're a month into the season - and it's far too early to make your mind up either way. We've played 6 league games - and all 6 of them were against teams that are in the top half of the table. Good draws against QPR and Cardiff, and battling win against Coventry. Granted, we've been poor in spells and we werent great against Luton. Some of the knee-jerking on here is proper weird. Let's judge him when we've played some of the dross at the bottom end.
To be honest the footballs been shocking at times then possesion stuff in our own half, there's no game where i can think we have played well for a full 90, the battling win v Coventry were we had one shot on goal and saved a last minute penalty and got out played most of the game. I hope he turns it round and does well but the early signs are good performance and results wise. Were looking like bottom end dross at the minute we create little and give the opposition plenty of opportunities.
But we haven’t been guilty of over playing in our own half? We don’t aimlessly keep possession. That’s not something you can direct at the team. It might be the perception because we’re not clearing it first time and we’re playing out from the back more, but we rarely dwell on the ball or go back and forth Keith Hill/Struber style. Evidence of this is that against Luton the ball was in each third of the pitch the same percentage of time, against Coventry it was in their third way more than it was ours, and against QPR it was 40% of the game spent in their third of the pitch. We’ve actually enjoyed a lot of possession in the opponent’s half in most games, but we’ve been so criminally short of real quality it hasn’t led to chances. We’ve been good until we get 30 yards from goal (excluding yesterday).
Even if what you say is true - and most of it might be, I'll say it again. We've played 6 league games. All against top half teams. Patience.
When we have possession we never look like creating much the problem has alway looked like we are going to struggle to score no matter how much possession in the opposition half we have look at us v Coventry they were the most dangerous side and had the better chance just we converted the only shot on goal we had. The playing the ball from the keeper to the center half the back to the keeper then around the defence inviting pressure is a scary tactic. I hope he turns it round like I say there are some winnable games coming up hopefully performances and results improve.
That’s fair enough and valid comments. But you’re over emphasising how often we’ve played that way and disregarding that we got our superb goal against Birmingham from that way of playing. Your posts are insinuating we pass, pass, pass with no urgency but that’s not how we’ve looked. We don’t look like scoring because 1) we’ve played some half decent sides who have set up well defensively and 2) we’ve had almost all of our most creative players not involved and not available to come and change the game in our favour Imagine the QPR, Luton, Cardiff, Coventry and Birmingham games (with an aggregate score of 5-5 by the way) with Morris, Iseka, Oulare and Benson fully fit for them all. Just having the strength and flexibility to help us could have got us more points in those games. With no disrespect to Miller, Thompson, Vic and Cole they’re not players that will swing the tide of a football game but they’ll do a job should you already be in front.
One has to say, if the challenge on Ben Williams was met with the red card it deserved it would have been a different game. Ah well.
Mention of Coventry last minute penalty save, but no mention of QPR late equaliser and our injury time chance. This is what gets me, all ifs and buts can be mentioned if it supports the criticisms but none mentioned otherwise.
Point taken, Admittedly some of my post yesterday were knee jerk i was very disappointed with the performance and I've been disappointed with the start in both performances and results and I believe we have a good set of players.
Hopefully we start to improve some winnable games coming up next sat blackburn at home and then blackpool away. Just abit disappointed with results and performances so far.
