Don't know who this is but if you don't like them don't support them. Stop trying to change peoples material or get them cancelled lol.
He'll sell more online, last dvd i saw cant recall any racism,he tells stories, with a filthy mouth,i like him, well used to,anybody that likes him, hour tune will be on youtube.
He could change his material, move with the times. Plenty of ways to earn a living, no one has a right to only be able to do so in one particular way.
I think the bottom line is unless you're Mother Theresa some people have had an "ism" or "ist" moment in their lives. The key as other posters have said is realising it's bigoted and moving with the times. I had that thing with takeaways that I shared with Helen on a thread. I think another issue is education and learning why something isn't acceptable. I must admit I've learnt a fair bit on this forum over the past 18 months or so.
How are you able to reach that conclusion, when by your own admission you don't know who it is? Furthermore, no one is trying to 'change people's material or get them cancelled lol', so I'm also not sure what it is you're trying to get people to stop. That said, you do think it's perfectly reasonable for people to walk the streets with assault rifles.
I remember being at school in the mid 80's and everybody worshipped him. Kids used to bring bootleg tapes in and listen em at break. I thought he was $hite then, and was considered a weirdo for not laughing. I didn't find him subversive or gritty. I just thought he was $hit. I don't even really have a problem with the fact that people found him funny in the 80's. It was 40 years ago. The bit I find really weird, is that people still do. He can't even hide behind irony or satire. For me it's just straight up, lazy, bigoted $hite that imo shouldn't have a platform in 2021.
You don't reckon it's an act do you? A persona cooked up from reputation based on profanity. He was the first comic to use the "c" word. He did it and never looked back. I'd like to see the real Chubby Brown and compare the two.
I'd have to look at each situation on merit. Context is really important. I agree though, the lines can get blurry. There will be loads of examples where there are things out there just as offensive as Chubby Brown. Two wrongs don't make a right though. The 'n-word' is almost always used by rappers as a reclaimed term. In a similar way to how 'queer' is now being reclaimed by the gay community. It's very rarely used as a racial slur in rap music. Not everyone just accepts the widespread use though. Chuck D for one, has been urging rappers and the music industry for some time, to stop using the term so readily https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-...-urges-rappers-stop-using-n-word-9520859.html
Well… racism isn’t illegal. So you’re out on a limb here. Hate speech is illegal, racially motivated violence is illegal, but simply discriminating against someone based on a protected characteristic is civil rather than criminal law. But simply believing someone is inferior based on race isn’t illegal, telling jokes that I’d find unacceptable isn’t illegal. You could argue it ought to be, but it isn’t.
I don't know what's worse, if he's genuinely racist or if he's just pretending to be racist to make money, knowing full well that it's wrong. Either way the bloke's a prize ****.
I'm sure he doesn't talk like that 24 hours a day but if he's cracking jokes about other races I would imagine he holds those views deep down or he wouldn't think it was ok to say it.
I’d say if the Police believed they had a good case to prove intent they’d have arrested him by now. As it is, there’s a strong argument to suggest he’s not in breach of the law.
Sad thing about him is if he'd avoided the racist jokes he would've probably been quite a decent, well thought of comedian.
