He could change his material, move with the times. Plenty of ways to earn a living, no one has a right to only be able to do so in one particular way.

I think the bottom line is unless you're Mother Theresa some people have had an "ism" or "ist" moment in their lives. The key as other posters have said is realising it's bigoted and moving with the times. I had that thing with takeaways that I shared with Helen on a thread. I think another issue is education and learning why something isn't acceptable. I must admit I've learnt a fair bit on this forum over the past 18 months or so.

Well… racism isn’t illegal. So you’re out on a limb here.
Hate speech is illegal, racially motivated violence is illegal, but simply discriminating against someone based on a protected characteristic is civil rather than criminal law.

But simply believing someone is inferior based on race isn’t illegal, telling jokes that I’d find unacceptable isn’t illegal.

You could argue it ought to be, but it isn’t.

 

I don't know what's worse, if he's genuinely racist or if he's just pretending to be racist to make money, knowing full well that it's wrong.

I'd say s.18 of the Public Order Act 1986 would apply to Chubby's act.

 

I'm sure he doesn't talk like that 24 hours a day but if he's cracking jokes about other races I would imagine he holds those views deep down or he wouldn't think it was ok to say it.

I’d say if the Police believed they had a good case to prove intent they’d have arrested him by now.
As it is, there’s a strong argument to suggest he’s not in breach of the law.

 

Sad thing about him is if he'd avoided the racist jokes he would've probably been quite a decent, well thought of comedian.
