The governing bodies throughout football seem to have a universal lack of understanding of the history of the game, of reverance for the pinnacle of rarity and achievement that is attained by winning a competition you only get to compete for every four years, of the whole fabric that has been created over 150 years. The only thing they care about is the pursuit of the dollar, the hyperbole for an increasingly debased product and an ever expanding trough for them to stick their snouts in. Cricket has gone the same way. They'd have an Ashes series every year if they could get away with it. In fact they're not far off reaching that goal as it is. History, meaning, context and integrity have been franchised and flogged.
