Only player that springs to mind from the mid 70s going to Southampton is Central Defender Mick Pickering

Just had an extensive look in my big book of BFC & I can't see any player that went to Southampton, only Pickering as mentioned by Tarntyke.

This was why it came up...mate was a local league referee in the mid 70s...was in charge of a Hood Green game...tackle went in and he was going to book him....player said his name and my mate looked at him....put his book away and said "Don't do it again" :)

I'm sure they're thinking of Otulakowski but have just got confused. He went to west ham before going to Southend not Southampton. I think that's where the confusion has come from.

Worked with a few Polish lads at Sammy Foxes, most lived in the Hood Green / Thurgoland area, I think there had been some kind of camp in that area were they were billeted. One of them lived at Hood green, called him Rutkowski, had a lad that would have been playing at that time and was a bit of a hot head. Lay a pound to a penny it'll have been him.
